[MOD] Best Buy Rebranded Seidio Case!

1 Attachment(s)
Well, I love the Seidio case for the EVO... Best one I have found yet to protect my baby!!! My one gripe is the fact that it doesn't fit as snug as I would like it to... When holding the phone in your hand, you can feel a slight bit of play between the case and the phone which was starting to drive me crazy...

I was browsing the forum over at XDA and happened to stumble across a thread where someone posted his Mod to fix the issue... He mentioned picking up some felt contact paper from Michael's so I though this was a great idea and stopped to pick some up... The poster over at XDA actually cut the felt to fill the inside of the case which I felt was a bit much.

Here's my twist on this Mod and it's much easier and less time consuming. The cost was less than $2.00 for the felt and took me all of 5 minutes.

I cut small slivers of the felt and strategically stuck them on the inside of the case... Take a look at the pick attached... What a difference... The phone feels so much more secure inside the case now...

Hope this helps someone out there!!!

that may actually help me a lot, i also purchased that case from best buy and noticed the same "just barely not so snug-ness". I may have to invest in some felt.

does the case add much thickness? the evo is already pretty thick for a slab device.

Of course there's gonna be some thickness add with a case... but Seidio takes this into consideration and does their best to minimize the bulk...

I didn't have a lot of play with my case but I still did this mod anyways to solidify the phone in place. All I could find around the house (it's 12AM here) was moleskin which is basically the same concept as the felt except for its pinkish color. I followed your "template" in post 1 and it worked out great and even though I used the (pinkisk) moleskin. With the phone inside of the case and together I cannot see the moleskin at all and it functions great.

just because a case is sold by best buy doesnt mean they rebranded it which they didnt. it still says seidio on it

But no where on the packaging does it say Seidio. BB contracted Seidio to make their "Platinum Series" cases... You'll notice a [P] on the back of the BB case where the Seidio Direct cases do not have this. If they weren't rebranded, why wouldn't they use the identical design??? Why wouldn't they use the same packaging??? Because they made these cases specifically for BB to sell... Hense, the term "Rebranded".

Now, the reason I specified "Rebranded" in the title is to not confuse those who purchased their case direct from Seidio. The Seidio direct cases may not have this same issue. Then again, it could.

I think you missed the point of this thread though... This was posted to help those who are experiencing a slight wobble (looseness) between the case and phone. Not everyone who purchased these cases are experiencing the issue but some are. This is a cheep and easy solution to fix this minor defect.

Mine works fine and it is in fact OEM'ed for Best Buy by Seidio. There is a little pamphlet inside the says Seidio giving the instructions to install and remove other than that there is nothing else on or in the package that indicates Seidio hence the term OEM original equipment manufacturer. Which is totally misleading as a term but it means letting someone else put their name on your stuff and sell it as there own which is exactly what is happening here.
