Agreed. It's still a "carry all the time" device that does 720p output via HDMI. Deal is definitely not broken, although I hope it does sound via 3.5mm OR HDMI or both. I don't have an HDMI receiver :(

I doubt this is the Sprint TV dock. I would want to see how that one does.

It won't make a difference. The Snapdragon processor in the EVO can only decode 720p video effectively. Anything higher is going to bog it down, as per Qualcomm.

Can it also do TV out like the TP2? to a standard TV with RCA inputs?

I was more referring to the drop to 420, not the issue with 720.

they said it would ratchet down to 480p, but it's likely that it was a 1080i tv. since the hdmi was requesting 480 lines it switched to 480p. (also I've seen many hdtv's that don't have 720p only 480i, 480p, 1080i.)
