Protecting you Device
I have a Zagg skin for my touch pro and I was looking on line the other day and noticed that Zagg already has full body skins out for the EVO (http://bit.ly/aUAqSV). I am pretty happy with my Zagg but from what I understand with the Android phones, the touch screen doesn't actually rely on pressure as much as using the person's magnetic field or something.
Anyone know how these skins work with the Android phones? I love the Zagg and have it for my ipod, DSI and phone so I would like to get one for my new EVO when I get it. I am assuming being they are selling the EVO skins on the site that there are no problems with them but I thought I would ask here before I order them. Thanks! Anthony |
Re: Protecting you Device
I am usually for the whole protect my phone with all kind of accessories things but this time I don't think I will. I want to feel every square inch of the evo in my hands so I am raw dawging it, no protection at all.:)

Re: Protecting you Device
I'm going to be getting a Clairvue screen protector, but give it a while to see if I feel I need anything for the body, but I doubt I do.
I haven't put so much as a scratch on the body of my TP over the last year+, and those things are prone to it. I think I can do fine on my own with the Evo. |
Re: Protecting you Device
I'm going to get one of those rubber shock type cases, as seen on the HD2, for my Evo.....

Re: Protecting you Device
I have a feeling I'm going to be trying a lot of different screen protectors on the Evo because capacitive is such a different world. My gf has the Ghost Armor on her Hero, and it's really smooth and works well, but it takes away from the sensitivity around the sides for some reason, and I don't like that.

My Clarivue order arrived today, and I'm not planning on adding anything else until I can determine hands-on if the raised camera lens on back needs some protection.

Moved to HTC Evo 4G Accessories

Re: Protecting you Device
zagg shouldn't reduce sensitivity. however, the texture it provides makes it very annoying to slide your finger on the device. It's like having a bumpy ride for your finger because of all the friction it adds to the surface.

Re: Protecting you Device
Did any one ever find out if the evo 4g is made of gorrila glass?

Re: Protecting you Device
Funny, at my local mall they have a kiosk cell phone acessories store and the girl there thinks that everything HD2 will fit the Evo 4G....WRONG!!!
The Evo 4G is a little thicker than the HD2. The screen on the Evo is different than the HD2, and also has a 1.3mp camera, which the HD2 doesn't....I'm just trying warn you people of those cart accessory sellers, they will sell you HD2 accessories instead of Evo....be warned now...buy retail Sprint or authorized know distributors....otherwise your phone aint going to fit in that new $30 case you just bought from the mall cart... |

Re: Protecting you Device
The protector I have on my TP2 is from eBay from a company called Clear Protector. Also: http://www.clearprotector.com/
I got it for $7.49 with free shipping and have had it on my phone for about 3-4 months and it's fantastic. There is almost no orange peel effect that I've seen on the Zagg, and it seems to self-recover from indents. This is unlike my gf's Ghost Armor on her Hero. Although hers does not have the "tacky" feel like mine does (seems Zagg is also like this), it has a couple dented scratches into it that have not recovered since they happened a couple months ago. It's nearly a perfect fit and has not come up at all around the edges, but I did use the solution given with the GA to help with the application, since Clear Protector does not give you this (they give instructions on how to use soap/water mix). Overall, $7.49 is not bad, but the feel sucks compared to the GA. I wish someone made one as smooth as the GA, but also has the self-healing characteristic. :/ Here's a review I wrote up on it a while back: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...otector+review |
Re: Protecting you Device
I've used invisible shield for the body of TP1, TP2, and zune hd, and they all work really well for the body. I will agree with that the screen protectors though are a little more grippy compared to the other ones which i've used for the screen, namely martin fields and clairvue anti-glare, both of which glide much more smoothly than invisible shield.
As for the screen being glass, i recall reading somewhere here that the screen is glass, as needed for a capacitive screen, but also coated with plastic to make the touch smoother and easier to work with. With that in mind, i will still put something on the screen, because the first week i had my zunehd, which has corning gorilla glass, i managed to scratch the screen with the device in my pocket, and only the device. Its still a mystery to this day how it managed to get scratched but i'm just gonna play it safe and believe that nothing is really scratch-proof, unless it was coated with diamonds. Screen protectors aren't usually thick enough to inhibit capacitive screen performance, if they were, those companies would lose alot of money because their products won't work with iphones. |

id like to protect my device but dont like the look of clunky protectors .. or cheap looking 1z .. i use phantom skinz screen protector on my tp2 & like it but because it isnt a perfect fit it started to peel the first time & the 2nd one i put on will peel in due time(from point on screen where i push to slide it). can any1 guide me in the right direction ? i want the device to be seen noticable |
Re: Protecting you Device
Dump I still suggest Zagg for who ever likes them, they are a great product and are guaranteed for life. I will be going to my local reseller of them as soon as my phone is activated on the 4th.

guess it dont hurt to try a product that gets as many good reviews as it does. some said it turns yellow over time though, which would suck considering the price of them . . not that protecting my phone isnt worth it & 14.99 or w.e isnt a million lol |

Re: Protecting you Device
I didn't use anything at all on my TP2 either, and I'm in construction. It got a few dings, but who cares, it's soon heading into the ash heap of history with all the other phones I've had. This one will get there in a year or two also.

Just curious, because I took great care of mine too and I got $250 for it.... Exactly why I will be taking good care of my Evo, something better will always be coming out. |
