So we just got handed some sort of Sprint "overview deck" going over some of the HTC EVO 4G's finer points -- and rest assured, there are many fine points -- but all told, there's not a lot new here; there's no release date that we can see, and we're already well acquainted with its 4G hotspot capability and the major features of Android 2.1 integrated with Sense. That said, our attention was drawn to the last couple slides, which reveal a bunch of accessories that'll be available just in case the phone itself isn't enough to max out the plastic. Specifically, there's a dock with HDMI out ("likely" available after launch), a car mount, screen protectors, several kind of cases and gels in every color of the rainbow, and a couple different kinds of replacement shells -- one multi-color kit with a handful of snazzy shades, and a custom design option that sounds similar to what T-Mobile has done in the past with some of its devices. Oh, and there's another gem in here: a battery charging holster -- something along the lines of a Case-Mate Fuel, from what we can tell -- that'll come after the initial launch.

That's about it as accessories go, but we'd like to call your attention to the second slide in the deck, which calls out a mysterious "Segment 1" as Sprint's primary target market for the EVO 4G, with "Segment 6" gaining importance after the phone drops in price -- possibly around the holidays this year. From what it sounds, Sprint actually has all of its target demographics grouped into numbered buckets; we'd love to know what they all are, but needless to say, you can count us (and probably most of you) in this fun-loving, awesome Segment 1. You know, the cool kids.

mmmEVO!!!! I cannot wait.:protest:

I'm interested to see what this charging holster looks like. But i definitely want that car dock. My Sprint Premier discount on accessories will come in handy.

Car mount for me without question. I use Sprint Navigation quite a bit, this would help that.

+1 for me too.

The Car Kit is the best OEM I've ever seen, especially with the integrated charging.:headbang:

While it's nice that it will get a boatload of accessories, but problem is, accessories in Sprint store are overpriced to hell.

I used to work for a cell phone dealer, and we used to sell car chargers (no OEM, unfortunately) for $10. But we paid 55 cents for each.

Wonder what Sprint's OEM accessories are priced at wholesale...

Meanee don't take this the wrong way but alot of accessories that I have seen in some stores are cheap as poo, u get what you pay for, I would wrather pay some extra $$ for something that will last.

Oh, I know they are. Hell, one car charger I had kept blowing a fuse. I replaced a fuse, and it blew my car's fuse. But that's what you get for 55 cents.

Problem I am seeing, if Sprint's OEM accessories may cost $10 wholesale, you know they will sell them for $35 or more. Markup on accessories is HUGE

I am well aware of that I used to work for Best Buy for a time. I know how much markup there is on stuff that they sell which is normally better stuff than u will get at a Kiosk in the mall kind of thing.

I was in a Sprint store once when a gentlemen just upgraded to a Touch Pro. I forget what he was upgrading from, but he asked the sales lady about a car charger. She stated that the one he had was not compatible with his new phone and a new one would be $31.99. I butted in and told him to either go to another store like Wal-mart to save a little money or go online to save a lot of money. He said he didn't feel like going through the trouble. To make a long story short, I ran out to my car and gave him my OEM Motorola mini-USB car charger before she could ring him up. It's not like I didn't have plenty more at home. I just could not see another person get ripped off.

Do you guys think I'm crazy?

If there were more people in the world that do good things like that, maybe the world wouldn't be as screwed up as it is now. You did good.

Re: HTC EVO 4G to get boatload of accessories in Sprint stores

i have had to take my cheap piece of crap car charger back to the sprint store about 6 times in the short period of time that i have had my tp2. It cost like $30 and they break every couple of weeks. The only good thing is that they always replace it with a brand new one when i bring it in. Replacing it with a new one is koo but i dont like having to go to the sprint store over and over again just to have it replaced all the time. Finally I kept the brand new one they gave me last time and went to Target I bought one for $15 and i have 90 days to return it. On top of that it has a lifetime warranty (if i need to access the warranty i would have to mail it in and thats even more of a hassle but now that im getting an evo im gonna give the new sprint one to whoever i sell my tp2 to.... return the one i bought at target and buy a new one that fits my evo. (from target)
