Screen randomly loses touch tracking

Sometimes when I turn on my screen to unlock my phone, the screen thinks I lifted my finger while swiping my lock pattern. For example, if I'm trying to connect the dots on the screen, I can't drag my finger across the screen without it acting like I lost contact with the screen. I can't do anything until I turn the screen off and back on again.

Anybody know of a fix?

Is this with stock ROM?

install touch test and see if there are any dead spots in the screen. i have seen quite a few come back for that reason, actually a coworker just had his replaced because the center of his screen is dead.

there is an app in the market meant for the nook but it calibrated my thunderbolts lcd fine and it works 10x better. just search for "calibrate screen" in the market.
