Missing Contact Icons

Looking for a little help. Will explain as best as I can.

Rooted Evo 3D, Stock Rom HBoot 1.40. (On a side note, I had this problem with previous E3D HBoot 1.30 and my previous 2 Evo 4G's.)

When in text msg, my Icon for that person's pic ID is blank. Blank like in a contact that has no pic assigned. this happens whether they are a facebook friend or I assigned pick with Camera or image.

I don't know what could be causing this except for maybe data from previous devices. Even when I check my Google acct, the pic is there. when the called calls me, the ID pic is there. But when looking at text msgs from people, there is no pic.

It's not a huge deal, but just trying to fix it. I even ran fix permissions in recovery and that deleted ALL of the ID pics in messages.

I think it's previous data or something from using Titanium back up or a Nandroid from one of the older devices. I have over 300 apps installed so it would be a pain in the arse to start over from scratch and install each app one by one to see what app or data from the app would be causing this.

I know it's hard to describe so a person who doesn't physically have phone i hand can completely understand or know what may cause this. But I'm hoping for some insight. Maybe someone has heard of this or knows a simple or small tip to get it back working.

Also, I have NO apps installed that messes with contacts. Only Facebook stock app.

The only other apps that affect text messeges that I have installed are SMS Backup & Sms Diversion and Txt Msg away, but I'm sure those aren't the problem because I had this issue even before those apps were even found or installed.

I hope this is enough info for anyone's help and thanks in advance.

That happened with mine too. not sure why it happened.

I have 1.40.100 hboot.
and i was running stock 2.08 rooted with a few modes here and there while i was building a rom and i noticed that all my contect icons dissapeared in the mms and sms screens

i dont know what caused it but even when restoring a nandroid backup after a few days it would go away again

i reflashed a stock rom and i havnt seen it since

Thanks aedon.

I will try restoring a nandroid. I just didn't want the pain of re installing all of the other apps too lol.

Anyone else got any other ideas?

just flash stock rom over the top

Karl, I was thinking of flashing over to Fresh Rom. Should I flash a stock rooted 1st, then wipe before I flash Fresh?

I wound up going to Fresh Rom 4.1 then 4.2 and both fixed the problem for me. Thanks as usual Karl.
