SPRINT in NYC - it keeps disconnecting - Any way to ROAM???

How do I put it on roam? I am constantly getting disconnected. at least 10 times a day. really annoying. Anyway to put it on permanent roam in the office?

That doesn't allow you to roam exclusively, with this you only roam when there is no sprint signal at all. With roam control, you can simply choose to roam even if you have a sprint signal.

My lady is having the same problem with her evo. Dropping the calls when she answers and if I call her back it goes straight to vm. A reboot solves the problem for an hour or so then it starts acting up again.

I know that, but if you are at a location(for me Penn station)that doesn't have or has a weak sprint signal it will lock on to Verizon and at least you can make and receive calls.

Yes, and I am sure the OP is well aware of that but his situation is a little different being that he don't want to be bouncing back and forth and would rather just roam exclusively.

You could load the Verizon PRL and try that. PRL 00001. Be careful w/that though, because Sprint could kick you for using it to much.

Actually the OP would like to put it in roam in his or her office so if it is on automatic that should suffice as phone will roam onto Verizon.

Wow, looks like we got a little PPCGEEKS NYC community here. :)

Have any of you guys tried using PRL 11115? You can get it from here:
Collection of PRL's

11115 allows 3G Roaming in Many VZW Markets. It's an official sprint PRL that goes out to business account customers. Since this is a sprint PRL, *as far as I know* you won't get your sprint account closed for using it. I've been using it in NYC, and have noticed a HUGE difference in my reception quality and data speeds.
Someone more knowledgeable in sprints roaming policy's should defiantly call me out if that above statement is wrong though.

You can find an Analysis of the 11115 PRL here:

Yes but the crap signal by sprint and bouncing back and forth between providers will rape his(or her) battery by lunch time. By him(or her) roaming exlusively you simply just stay on the stronger signal which will reduce battery drain while he(or she) is at the office. I am in a similar situation as well, when I am at my main office I get 1 maybe 2 bars at best and with my phone set to automatic it will occassionally switch to roaming but the problem is, regardless of how bad that signal is with sprint, as long as I have a signal with sprint it won't switch until the signal drops all together. What this means is if he(or she) has 1 bar at work, the phone will be working that much harder to maintain that signal. That 1 bar will always take priority over full bars while roaming. This is the reason why I paid for roam control, once I am roaming(exclusively) I have 4 to 5 bars and the phone isn't working as hard to maintain that signal compared to crap signal I get on sprint at my office.
