Need Help: Black Screen of Death
 

Hello all,

I unplugged my phone this morning and noticed that my screen was black. It can still turn on and function normally as if the screen worked, I am able to answer/end calls but nothing else (running stock, easy to remember the swipe method to answer/ hang up the phone) The phone lights up and it responds to touches (it vibrates) but I don't know what I am pushing!! So here it is 15+ hours later and I've tried everything to get it to turn on and I've come up empty. I took it to Sprint and they have to order me another one, the thing is that they won't have a 3VO til Monday (waiting sucks!). I've heard of some apps that will let you run your phone on your desktop, but most of them require root, plus I cannot see what's on my screen. Does anyone know of an app/software that can run my phone via PC even though I cannot see what's on it? If I need to install something on the phone I will not be able to do it. So can anyone help me out? Im open for suggestions. Just keep in mind that the phone is stock and the screen is black.

This happened to me yesterday morning as well!!!!! I unplugged it from the charger to goto work and the green light stayed on and the screen stayed off. Fortunatley, after looking at it in disgust for what seemed like forever (more like 10 seconds) it just came on. Hope this isn't going to be a problem.

I ran into this once under the same circumstances that you had. I was unsure about what caused it. I tried to turn it off and on to no avail. Finally I removed the battery and waited abount a minute. then restarted and it tried to reboot but did not. I removed the battery again. This time I held the volume down and the power button like I was going into recovery, this time curiously enough it did not go into recovery but actually rebooted. haven't had the problem since. don't know what caused it or what fixed it, but thats what happened. hope it helps.

Thank you all for the info. I have the whole weekend to try and resurrect this phone just so I can wipe it and prepare for the new one that's coming Monday. I will try to see if the battery trick will work too. I haven't left it for longer than a few seconds so maybe that will work.

Oddly... This happened to me twice and plugging the phone back into the charger fixed it. Not sure why, but worked both times.

I've tried everything mentioned and still my phone does not work! Luckily I will have a replacement tomorrow (fingers crossed!!) All I wanted to do was erase it. Been using a moto razor for 4 days and as much as this phone comes in handy, I find myself pressing the screen a lot and then getting mad cuz its not working!! COME ON MONDAY!!
