Wi-Fi Issues..

So my Evo 3D wouldn't connect to my g/f's router. It did at first, but no longer does.

So I sat down just now and took some time to play with things and I think I might have found the issue... the router's channel was set to 1. Change it back to 6 and it connects without issue.

Same with my g/f's iphone 3, wouldn't connect. but now it does.

My laptop and xbox 360 had no issues connecting.

So if your Wi-Fi isn't working, try to see what channel it's on.

Maybe if you forget the network after the channel changed and reconnect, it'll work...

It seems odd that a different channel would affect it since (I thought) it uses the SSID to identify the network.

I've tried that on both our devices, still didn't wanna connect to it. Strange...

Are you up and running now?

I was doing some testing on my new modem / wifi router and I changed the channel from 1 to whatever and I could connect on every channel.

You might have been seeing this connection issue as a result of several wireless networks on the same channel. A lot of people keep the factory channel setting on their router (which could be ch. 1) and devices have a hard time connecting when that frequency is being broadcast by multiple routers. This is espescially common in apartments.

Yeah I am, just had to change it back to channel 6.

I thought the same..But when I ran Wifi analyzer, channel one was only being used by her in the proximity.

its not a newer N router using 40mhz channels is it? that could be causeing some problems for non channel binding devices like our phone.

Any router worth its salt would give you the option to set it to 20/40mhz. Might want to look into that as well.
