Hi everyone, let's try to stay on topic. This isn't a 3d (HTC) vs Samsung device thread. Thanks for understanding.

I exchanged my 3D for another one. It has all the same settings as my old phone. It still takes over 4 hours to charge but it did hold up today to much more use even though it has the exact same settings as my old phone. The only difference is I have 1 less e-mail account set up to sync. I'll set that up for tomorrow and see how it holds up.

Re: Anyone else considering returning their EVO 3D?

I have used all HTC phones since the Mogul. How I see it is that I couldn't expect the 3D to compare with my 4G because all the developers have been making the ROMs so efficient and fast. I went back to my 4G for Wifi and like the subtle tweaks the OMJ, Myn, etc have done. The only reason I think that I'm going to keep it is so I can get the next new one in a year from when I got the last one and I know they will crack this thing at some point in time. I may use my sister in law's upgrade to try the SII though, just to cheat on HTC a little...

I thought about it but after few exchanges I found one that works for me and no issue.

Considering the Samsung Galaxy SII may be out as soon as the 24th I'd definitely consider it competition. Some will prefer the 3D(I would imagine people in this forum are going to be skewed toward the 3D but then again people in the Galaxy SII forum would probably much more fond of that unit). Some of us are experiencing poor battery life that the SGSII may or may not be better in that respect. It will be unlocked on release so I wouldn't be suprised if someone rigs it with the sense overlay quickly. Since it will be unlocked someone will probably enable a permanent tether solution quickly. Since it will be unlocked on release that will allow developers to create well designed, quicker, and more power efficient packages quickly. Some of us are experiencing slow download speeds which the SGSII may or may not also have. Some of us are experiencing problems with signal lock and call drops which the SGSII may or may not have. Some may prefer the Super Amoled plus screen which offers greater contrast and reduced power consumption while some may prefer the higher resolution of the 3D. Some may be looking for the thinner and lighter design of the SGSII. Some may want the higher resolution camera of the SGSII (although resolution alone doens't make a picture good).

As for the arrive, I agree the arrive hardware is sub par but WP7 is more power efficient, runs more smoothly on a lower speed processor and has better handling for exchange email servers which the bulk of businesses use. We probably won't seen any decent WP7 hardware until the end of this year.

I haven't decided what to do yet, myself but I am cetainly going to check out the SGSII before I lock myself in with the 3D.

I might not return my Evo 3D, but since I still have my original EVO I might just reconnect that phone and put Evo 3D on hold. The 3G and 4G signals are far weaker than the Original Evo, I have seen absoloutly no benefits from dual core, picture quality is poor, and the phone is overall slower. Am holding on to my Evo 3D with the hopes that it can be improved with some updates.

the evo3d has really grown on me but sadly i'll be returning it before the week is up. the problem is i'm not satisfied with the ear speaker clarity. so I plan on using a borrowed palm pre till the SG2 comes out then evaluate the phones available and get one, maybe even another evo3d.

I'm keeping mine. I thought about it, pros and cons and even with a stock ROM this phone is fast, smooth, and has had zero problems since I temp rooted over a week ago. Funny how the temp root seems to have fixed issues.

But every single EVO 3D I opened had one of the many issues noted by people since its launch. Not a single one was good enough for me to take. Then I realized that this is fucking real life and the chances of getting a flawless EVO 3D, or any other HTC phone for that mater are slim to none and you should probably stick with what you have.

Cool story? You bet your ass.

1....2....

I have a little story that I need to tell...
about a little phone that we know so well...

we spend alot of dough, cough up alotta cash...
just to have issues that we shouldn't bash..?

tilted screens and signal issues...
makes some people who need the phone get tissues...

for what it's worth we should send the phone back...
to let HTC know they don't know jack!

HTC's quality control has gone down the tubes. Seems as if they all went on vacation without notice to anyone and thier phones...and customers are paying a price. If these were $20 phones from your local 7-11, your point would be valid. But these are $200 phones on contract out of pocket and used upgrades to obtain these. No one...repeat...no one....should have to "live" with a phone that's...well...not perfect for any reason. This goes for any product that's manufactured and imported/exported to and from any country. So true that you said nothing is perfect but what's perfect to one person isn't perfect for another. Especially when said product clearly has flaws in and out.
