Sprint upgrades towers and then updates the PRL. If they upgrade towers in Florida & New York and you live in Kansas you will get no benefit unless you travel there. There is a website that lists the towers that were upgraded, EVDO.something? I think, but I usually update my Network Profile/PRL about once a week. It doesn't cost anything and it can't hurt. :)

Prl updates are done due to changes of resources, normally lost or gained roaming agreements. There is nothing listed other then, "improves voice and EVO coverage domestically" for 21080

LOL, I got the new PRL and the claim that it "improves" is an extreme overstatement.

because more then likely its not intended for your market, 21080 is a general market evdo prl. so unless your in a border state, live in a market that is having resource issues or are part of the ipcs network you probably wont notice any differences when updates are rolled out.

I don't know if I've ever noticed an improvement with my PRL/Profile,Windows Updates/Antivirus updates, but I do them about once a week anyway. :-\"

It wont hurt, maybe some day it will effect something your area, hopefully for the better lol.

PRL stands for Prefered Roaming List. In simple terms , it tells the phone what towers to ping from (ie use) and when to switch to roaming service and such things as that . Newer PRL's will contain the latest towers and also the new towers sprint "rents" from verizon.

My PRL has been stuck on 21078. I have tried to update from the settings mode as well as profile resets and still no luck. Anyone have any "magic" suggestions?

Install old version of EPST from the EVO 4G, then you can do ##775# and do the manual update of the prl........just need to download that prl to your storage card.
