Problems with the Audio Jack

Has anyone else had problems with the headphone jack? every now and then while listening to music if i wiggle or accidentally touch the headphone jack my phone freaks out as though it had a remote control.. it will start to fast forward or skip calls or open the voice dialer.. i'm guessing it thinks i have a headset? anyone else notice this?

No. I use my headset every night to fall asleep listening to podcasts and I have not had that issue.

I had this issue, but it seems to have stopped. When I plugged in my new Sony earbuds, the icon appeared in the notification area as if I had plugged in headphones with a mic (which my earbuds don't have). Songs would randomly fast-forward, the dialer would open, google voice search would start, etc. I unplugged and plugged in several times and the icon switched to regular headphones. No more issues so far...

Re: Problems with the Audio Jack

Try using a different set of earbuds. I had similar problem running a 3.5 mm line from my E3D audio jack to my receiver. The phone's screen started to respond as if it was being pressed erratically and I immediately unplugged it. Then I tried switching to another 3.5 mm line and it worked fine.

I get this all the time when I connect to the AUX jack of a car. I have no clue how to fix it, honestly. I use bluetooth in my own car, so that fixes it. But when I have a rental, I am toast. This happened with my EVO 4G, and the same thing is happening with the 3D.

Re: Problems with the Audio Jack

hi! i had a jack plugged into my htc hero connecting it to some speakers so i could listen to some music, took the jack out and i guess part of it got stuck in there, eventually got it out but now the headset icon won't disappear from my main screen and apparently the phone thinks I still have it in there because I'm now unable to make or receive phone calls, HELP!
