Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?

Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?
My faith is in the developers community. They seem to always get around whatever barriers that the manufacturers put up. Plus, they found a hole...
To quote Darchstar@xda WE > HTC |
They said future devices. I'm not saying they won't unlock it....just saying that the statement from the CEO was not referring to the 3d which is why I got one for the wife but my upgrade is being saved got

BUT, if they unlock the Sensation, I see no reason why they wouldn't unlock the E3D I posted this a few weeks ago....though I don't think the Sensation has been unlocked yet. HTC is prepping to unlock the Sensation's bootloader my money is on the devs....hopefully we'll have root by this time next week :) ....remember even if it's unlocked, that doesn't give u root....we already have a engineering hboot that's unlocked, and they have found a hole that should get us root |
Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?
I definitely would like to know the answer to this. If it is true I would consider this just as important as if someone said the battery can't be charged more than 200 times. THe rumor may be a mistake but it certainly is an important one as there was an older HTC phone that didn't get unlocked and no one ever managed to get around that as far as I know.
I've posted a question in the support forum and sent an e-mail to HTC. I think if we can convince Engadget to post an article HTC would difinitely respond or possibly if enough people send e-mails or call HTC we might get a definiteve answer - http://community.htc.com/na/htc-foru...oid/f/138.aspx If you are using IE9 and want to post on HTC's website use compatability mode. |

Yeah, but the root exploit and the modified bootloader do not exist yet. A group called TeamWin had confirmed they did root but we are still waiting for instructions. Hopefully soon! |
Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?
Dear Karl,
I'll be glad to let you know that the grapevine is wrong in this case. The EVO 3D only shipped locked because it was completed before the announcement was made; it was too late to go back and change that before the release of the device. However, we've stated that we are working on an update of some sort that will unlock the bootloader of the device; we simply have to jump through the bureaucratic hoops that there always are before it can be available. This is indeed something that we're working on, true to our word. We don't have a date set yet for when it will be available, but as this is a high priority situation when there is news on the subject it will be posted to our social media outlets, like our Facebook and our Twitter just as the previous announcement was. I hope that it is soon. Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?
Interesting response. The reply I got from HTC was they didn't know if there was going to be an unlocked firmware update from HTC.
