Tell us Your Thoughts!

We're gonna put up an article later this week detailing the release and summing up the opinion of a few different sites - eventually ours too.

Tell us what you think! We scaled it from 1 to 5 for your convenience.

I had to give it a 5. I am way impressed. The 3D is better than I expected.

3D is amazing to what I thought it was going to be. It should shut up all those non-believers.

The speed is incredible, boots up insanely fast

Swype is cool also

Definitely a very positive experience for my first LEGIT android phone. (TP2 doesn't count lol)

Quick, responsive, and very, very nice. I do like the 3D more than I thought. I was just going for specs and the 3D is very nice frosting.

I've made several calls and haven't had any issue with the call quality. At all. With different people on different phones. Maybe my ears aren't tuned properly or I'm not an Audiophile, but I don't hear degredation and I was able to turn the earpiece speaker up loud enough to hear the person (never hit the max volume and wished it was louder). Two calls were on the subway in Chicago too. A+ on call quality for me. One review had me questioning it...

Hope it stays great as I use it more for calls. Everything else is perfect thus far.

Except S-On. Of course.

Re: Tell us Your Thoughts!

This phone has impressed me more then i had originally thought. I loved and still love the Evo 4g, however the Evo 3d is just that much more feature pack of a phone. People can say that 3D is a gimmick on the phone, but unless you have actually tried it and see it in action, you will have a totally different approach to it. Before its release ive read that some people have compared the 3d to the Nintendo 3ds, and i must say the Nintendo 3Ds doesnt even come close to the Visual 3D you get on the Evo 3D. The 3Ds gives me headaches for a short period of viewing, however i have not had that problem yet with the Evo3d and i have watched well over an hours worth of 3D clips and shots. That was originally my only gripe that i had for the 3D, im very happy to say that the Evo3d visual doesnt give me headaches. The 3D is a plus and everything on the phone is just awesome, its stupid fast, call quality is great ( i dont get why some site reviewers say that call quality was mediocre), and battery life so far is very impressive. This is a very worthy successor to the Evo4g.

This phone is the shiznit! I bewiggled my shiniggle at all the options available. Although, side by side to my OG EVO, I can tell the 3D is smoother but not all that much faster. Worthy upgrade yes! Worthy upgrade from an OG EVO? Depends on how much of a spec junkie you are and if 3D is a must have.

But I'm loving it nonetheless!

3D IS A GIMMICK AND STILL TOO YOUNG OF A TECHNOLOGY.

The specs on this phone are solid and what makes it shine. The dual core processor along with high res screen is what sold me on it. The original Evo has a better body and felt much more solid to me. The phone is overall decent nothing to blow you away like media want you to believe. 3D should not be the selling point on this phone and people need to look at the complete picture.

Picked mine up almost 24 hours ago now at the store. I wont lie I was on the fence about buying it. I had the evo 4g phone love it great phone still love it. The 3D is a worthy upgrade however. Battery live is much improved biggest stock battery HTC has ever used I think, processor is amazing and actually I am very impressed with how good the 3D images are on the screen. I did not buy the phone at all for the 3D but having used it works pretty good and is fun to show ppl. That being said I absolutely hate where they put the charging port on this device. Makes holding it in the car or any time it is plugged in a PITA. Cord should have been made to plug straight into the bottom like all the other HTC devices ive owned. Other than that no complaints thus far.

I used to think 3D was a gimmick, but not anymore after seeing it live....it's a cool bonus.....@ $199 for the phone, it's not like they're trying to sell for a premium based on 3D.

I agree, the technology is still young, but that just makes this phone ahead of it's time & state of the art!

Just like HD, 3D will gain momentum eventually.

Well now that the Novelty has wore off I can Honestly say what I have found, "ONLY DEALING WITH MY PHONES"(yes Phones). First phone Problem with screen overlay(dead spots, squeeze sides(not hard) n screen has lines across it), second was dead b4 i left the store(powered on n when it rebooted it was dead, tech was confused) third and all these also relate to first phone also, 1)HDMI/charge port does not recharge battery while using it to watch tv, movies, video. 2)Icons on the screen go to default when app is moved to SD card, 3)1Gig of internal as opposed to 4Gig advertised, 4)Clock function-touch clock use to go into desk clock, also the dim feature in the desk clock doesn't show clock screen saver. 5)Reboot feature just powers off(although It has worked only once 4 me) 6) powering on phone is a hit or miss function ( had to take battery out, put back in, then press button, and wa-la, screen comes on), 7)Degraded signal and dropped call-(I am in ROAM standing where my EVO 4G has 1bar, i hold them in front of me and turn 180 n now both have 2 bars n no roam) 8)Speaker Quality and volume level is way below the EVO(audio range is below the EVO4G by 2db and cant hit the high ultra notes('kids only ringtone' works on headphone but not my speaker)- SO FAR...
3 updates already n nothing to tell me what the updates do. Think HTC is taking a cue from Microsoft "let the public test ur product for free n issue updates" Don't get me wrong I like HTC n there products but for $549 b4 discounts(I still paid $250) U should get a better product than the old model. I Have 30days, think Im returning it on the 28th day.

Coming from TP2, this 3D is awsome phone! Its fast and snappy. Maybe beyond my expectation so far!

That said, the speaker is weak and not as loud as the TP2.

Re: Tell us Your Thoughts!

At first i didn't like it due to it looking like the EVO. Mentally for most people at least, people want a whole new design to make it look like another phone. EVO is great but they should of designed it like the sensation just to make most folks happy. The screen is pretty but not as great as the epic's. At least text is crisp and clear and easy to read.
My 3g/4g signals were absolutly horrible last weekend which might of been a sprint tower problem.

I do love the slightly thinner design, the aluminum camera button, aluminum body and overall feel of the phone.
Green hornet movie look amazing on the 3d Screen.
Sense is good but i still love Go launcher EX.

Which i could use sense widgets with other launchers.

QUestions though on some battery saving tips.
How do i set the time out for the hardware button leds ?
How do i decrease the vibration intensity of the hardware button ?

This phone has met my expectation and i would recommend this phone.

Loving it. I think it's another WIN for Sprint.

This is my first Android phone coming from a BB and it is amazing. I love it. Fast, responsive and tons of features. I need to get used to the touch screen keyboard (coming from BB) but I have had no lag in typing email and text messages. I am truly enjoying this phone but I need to get more familiar with Android and the apps available.

Re: Tell us Your Thoughts!

I think it depends on what phone you are coming from. If you are coming from the evo its going to be less dramatic then someone who is upgrading from a two or three year old phone. For me it is a pleasant upgrade. I don't really like 3d anywhere. However, I thought the effects in the green hornet were tolerable. I don't miss the evo however, because i was tired of the memory is low warnings, and having to switch so much to the sd card.

I think battery management on this phone is way better than the evo, although I will still be buying the bigger siedo battery when it comes out. I can't wait for a phone that lasts from seven in the morning until late at night. The only thing I like about the new sense is the calendar upgrade, except for waiting for it to load.

I think the hardware is probably okay, it is the software upgrades and new and improved applications that will make this phone shine.

It is a very nice sized screen but I think I'll look in to the Samsung Galaxy S II when it comes out (hopefully within my 30 day return policy) to see if I can get better battery life and faster battery recharges.

What I don't like about the phone is the awful quality speaker they put in.. try to boost volume and you get crackle.. How can they use such subpar componets in a phone that retails for nearly $600?

Because they know you'll still buy it.

Palndrm12 07-27-2011 09:06 PM

It's true I did still buy it. The TP2 definitely had the better speaker but no support outside the PPCGeeks XDA world's. The screen is big enough now and with the app support I spend more time on my phone than my laptop.

I hear you. Along with the VNC apps, there are a plethora of apps I find useful enough that, when combined with the smooth browsing and the mobile webpages, I don't use my laptop as often as I did for a lot of little things. Another great experience here coming from the TP2.
