Can the Incredible be rooted after the Froyo update?

I wanted to root my Incredible for the first time only the Froyo update has already taken place. I tried Unrevoked 3.14 but it says failed to flash, will we be able to root in the future?

Thanks

shouldn't be too long.
if you want to root now go to xda and find the thread to downgrade back to 2.1. then you can root and go back to 2.2.

you will be happy to know they have rooted 2.2 and are testing the release now. assuming all goes well it should be out very soon.

Here's what I followed just last night, worked just fine.

Universal Windows USB Drivers (ADB, BootLoader, Disk Drive, HTC Sync) - Android Forums

freenode Web IRC (qwebirc)

So you rooted your Android…Now what?Â*|Â*Ian D. Owens | a web log

Don't harass anyone and also know that you are going out on a limb to do this since it's not been officially released. I spent about a day watching the chatter though, and after seeing several people to the Inc without issue I took the plunge. I think the remaining issues are related to other devices, not the Inc. I took the 2.2 OTA a week ago and then did unrevoked 3.2.

Re: Can the Incredible be rooted after the Froyo update?

It's now actually actually easier to go ahead and let the factory OTA take place before you root and NAND unlock because the OTA includes the 2.15 radio update which is required for many of the custom ROMs.

I rooted and NAND unlocked on 2.2 using the unrevoked forever 3.1, which has now been upgraded to 3.2. Already running Virtuous ROM 2.6 which is SWEET! I highly recommend using the custom adrenylyne Kernel also because it allows you to use SetCPU to change over and underclock settings. Really gave my battery life a huge boost!

Yes you can, I did the same mistake, there is an unrevoked 3.21 find it and go through the same procedure it should work.

HERE is unrevoked 3.2 link. Make sure you have everything installed. Hit the more info on the page. It is painless.

Hey, sorry for a noob question but I got the incredible not too long ago and I am trying to get the hotspot to work but I need to root it.

So basically if I root my phone would I lose all the settings and apps on my phone? Or is there a full back up available that I could do to the phone now. Any help greatly appreciated

Rooting your phone does not wipe the data or settings at all.

i just got the verizon update last night, is that causing issues?

I don't think rooting will work until unrevoked updates it to work with the new hboot version. That's my understanding at least.

Has unrevoked posted an announcement on their page?

No?

They are really, REALLY, good at announcing their progress.

So, why are you asking here if they have an update?

The November Verizon update did cause problems. Unrevoked version 3.22 is fixed for this.

I'm trying to run unrevoked3 on my dinc but after the phone reboots itself I get the message about 'waiting for it to settle' then it starts to 'run root' then all I get is a error that says 'triumph' and 'uninstalling package installer'
