We don't have sense 1.5 , we have 2.1 which does not have that option in applications.

Not having a carrier discussion, was just looking at features of the phone because I hate sense. My nexus is great and Just wanted to make sure I can disable it before I purchase the evo.

All I was saying was what's the use to have a 4G phone that you can turn off sense , when it will drop calls. That's no fun !! haha

If you think people are leaving sprint because of dropped calls then you're sadly mistaken. Also sprint isn't losing 100,000 customers a month, if so they'd be out of business. If you like paying $40 more a month to get less service go right ahead, that's your perogative. $79.99 unlimited mobile to any mobile, unlimited text, and unlimited 4g data. If everyone left sprint I could careless cause guess what ide be saving. This is 2010 man everyone including metro gets good service, at least out here in the bay area, nobody complains of dropped calls, haha you're so old skool. Now you're telling me Verizon locked your phone down again, you can't even disable sense HAHAHAHAHA.

Sprint when they gobbled up Nextel put more debt onto themselves than they really cared for, but they also acquired over 200 million customers in the deal.

so the 100,000 + loss a month won't hurt them right away until they start to dwindle down to the lower millions, then they'll start to worry

Sprint keeps staying afloat by selling off its local owned service centers and CPO's. Embarq was formed to help with this, then CenturyTel bought Embarq forming CenturyLink

but we'll have to see where this takes them, Sprint isn't doing good still with all the loss's its having and its operating at a loss in some quarters, last year in 2009 they lost 3.8 billion in one quarter with no profits, they were in the red.

2009 was the worst year for any company, but 2010 is proving to be a better year for everyone it seems, so we'll just have to see, maybe the EVO and its 4G launch will be its Knight in shining armor.
but Thanks to this, Verizon and AT&T are now launching there new 4G networks ahead of schedule expected by the end of 2010.

so its gonna be an interesting watch and wait game

yo p-slim,

i have that option on my incredible, however it doesn't do anything. i was stoked when i saw the vid thinking i could disable it but nothing happened. i hit clear defaults, then hit home....then it was still sense ui, sigh. i even tried using "home switcher" after hitting clear defaults, it stated that sense was not set to default, but did not give the option to run standard home.

thanks for the tip though. looks like we may have to wait for root before we can strip sense off. (or use an alternative home app)

and its not that i hate sense, i just like having options, kinda bummed i don't have the option, haha

Did you install another launcher? HTC might have removed the default launcher.

Sense has nothing neccessary. Many people want to disabled sense. My n1 obviously doesn't have sense nor does the Droid, they are perfectly good phones. Sense is useless in my eyes. Leap feature is absolutely useless, HTC sense is a total waste of resources. This isn't winmo where its a neccesity to cover a dying OS.

If so many people don't want Sense on their phones why did 100,000 people pay alot more for the Incredible the first 2 days it was on sale when they could have gotten the N1 or Droid witout Sense for a LOT less money. I think I saw an ad " Buy 1 , get 1 free". I think one is on sale for $29.

You're a retard if you think HTC sense is what sold that phone. Vzw users are happy just to have a high end high spec android with the highest specs. If you think there will not be roms without sense then you're thinking process isn't correct. When the iPhone comes to vzw it will out sell the Droid by the masses does that mean its better?

Also when did I say so many people don't sense? I believe I asked a simple question if it can be disabled or not. I don't know why you feel like arguing, especially when you're wrong, but that's all you. Even if you read the thread 1 or 2 people are intrigued about disabling it. If you want to continue to argue pm me then I'll let you know how I really feel.

When we get root I don't care what kind of roms they put on their phones that's up to them. I was just correcting two statements you made that were not true. You said that you didn't say MANY people want to remove Sense . You did say it in post # 17. Also you said in post #10 that Sprint isn't losing 100,000 subscribers a month , if they were they would be broke. They lost 578,000 from Jan 2010 to March 2010 , is that not over a 100,000 a month (192,000) ?
You like to call people names and say how stupid they are , looks like you might be clueless aslo .
Since you are a T-Mobile / Sprint guy why not try to get the HD2 guys to get rid of Sense , that ought to be good for a laugh.

To be honest I really could care less. I got my answer here. Sense can be fully disabled so people obviously care. Have fun with your incredible :-)

LOL. How'd they lock our phone down? Just because there's one little option not on there? I'm sure there's something that could have been in the OS of the evo but is not...
I'd blame HTC more than Verizon.
Besides, I like certain features of sense versus regular android, but do like certain features of android versus sense.
One question, have you used sense more than just 5-10minutes at a store?

You can't tell me that you're using up the ram/processor of this phone.
If so, then you need to stop looking at so much porn. :P
The last sentence was pretty funny though, not gonna lie.

+1, that didn't sell the phone for me.
I want to play with it though, has some features I like plus the extra homescreens are nice. I like having a bunch. haha.

There will be roms with and without sense.
Some might even have both (if someone makes a mod to turn it on/off).
It's just personal taste really....nothing to really argue about here so I'll leave it at that. haha

As I thought. HTC removed the basic launcher. If you install another launcher and then clear defaults from sense you will be given the option to use the new launcher. I just tried this on a demo phone at a Verizon store and it worked fine.

I tried a few other launchers, but none of them were close enough to stock for me to keep them.

Panda home and tag home both look very close to stock, but in both cases i ended up back with sense.

if anyone is looking to try something other than sense ui, try launcherpro. so far it works very nicely and looks a lot like standard android. no force closes or anything yet. it says its a beta, but it runs damn nice for a beta
