Is there something wmwifirouter for the Htc Incredible

Hi, all...just wanted to ask since I'm just getting my Htc Incredible; is there a program like wmwifirouter for our phones? I know that this has probably already been asked but I'm in school and I really need to know. I'm just coming over from using a touchpro and the only thing that I've found so far is PDAnet...which I'm still trying to figure out how to install correctly.

we need root access to run a wifi router app. rest assured there are wifi router apps, and soon enough we will get root access. but until then you are stuck with PDAnet.

Thats tethering

he wants a wifi hotspot app like we had on the Touch Pro 2, where you can send out your wifi to other devices to share your internet wirelessly from your cell

That's what wmwifirouter does. It essentially uses your phone's data plan through wifi turning your phone into a wireless modem. I've seen posts where people have talked about "rooting" droids. In theory, if we could just do that then we could just run the program...seems doable

thats why i stated wifi router requires root. i was under the impression he knew PDAnet was (cable) tethering, since we had that on the touch pro (2). my bad....

Mrgoodcat is correct, to use the wifi router apps you have to have root access. Once your phone is rooted you can just install the .apk . Rooting your phone is similiar to unlocking it with hspl. There is now way to have a wifi router app without rooting unless you use something like the sprint wimax app or whatever they intend to use.

if you have windows 7 you can get connectify which makes your laptop into a wifi router, then you can tether to your laptop run connectify and connect your other devices to it. http://connectify.me/ if you need wifi for other devices this will work until we get root access, but only if you have windows 7

yeah I got it working fine with pdanet, just follow the easy setup wizard, you might also need to restart your computer. do you have the free version of pdanet or paid version, if you have the free version that might be the problem, not exactly sure if that would be the problem but just throwing it out there.
