speed up htc eris
Hello all I'm a first time Droid user and I have a question . I know the Eris isn't the fastest phone on the market but is there a way to make it faster and will "rooting" the phone make it faster ? If so how do I go about doing that ? I don't wana mess it up ....lol . Ive also heard that it can't support the new 2.2 Android OS . if I root the phone is there a rooted 2.2 I can install ? Thanks for reading . Don't judge I'm new @ this and looking for help lol ... thanks

xtrSense. It's the second link on my initial post in here. If you have any questions feel free. I won't laugh I promise because I actually had to look up how to get the ROM to flash because it was stuck in an endless boot animation and I freaked out.

No problem I think ima try it tonight. Do I have to back anything up and how do I go about doing that . I downloaded both links lastnight and they r saved on my computer . Also when i do this what programs should I turn off. Like I said I know nothing. My friend got me into this stuff and it looks cool. U might know him ppcgeek .....lol so I thought I'd join ... just let me know thanks for all the help and maybe one I can help someone too.

Basically you back up what you want to keep. Your SD card should be safe but you can back up your apps (or redownload them from Market after you reinstall). Your contacts will be on your Gmail too. It's pretty much just a matter of making sure you wipe good after you get rooted to install the new ROM.

ok thanks ill do that then. so when i root it, then put the new rom on it it will b wiped clean right..... ( sorry for the questions) and as far as the things i should turn off is what ? or will the new rom do it for me? like i said sorry for the questions ima try in a couple of hrs so fingers crossed. hope it dont over heat......lol and if i wanted to get the factory rom back how would that be done? ( in case i sell it when i get a new phone in nov.)

i can download the recovery file but cant open it at all. The flash image i cant download at all....... WTF IDK ..............lol like i said i dont know anything...........help if u can

ok i didnt do it ..lol i wana make sure im doing right i did everything on the list and downloaded the xtrsense do i need to unzip them also and how the hell do i save it to my sd card i cant even find the sd card in my computer.......... idk help if u can thanks
oooo also i did manage to get both the recovery and flash.img to download and there already moved to the tools part of the root .... so i can do some things on my own lol thanks |

Ok thanks for the link ima prob going to use that link but I do like the xtrsense Rom better how do I flash it. Can I do it from my phone one I root it or do i have to use my computer if I have 2 use my computer how is that done ? ... I'm VERY new @ this lol. Thanks for the help

Use the track ball and to select what you need to do and the volume down lets you go go back in the menu. This is what I do. 1.) a good nand backup. 2.) wipe,wipe#1, and wipe#2. 3). Flash Custom ROM. Partition SD Card to 0 swap and 512mb other and then 2 to three. 4). Reboot phone. Step 5) Go into settings, and turn usb debugging on. After you have root, please uninstall this app. |
