questions about the Eris

I currently have an incredible and got my wife the Eris..
on my incredible (same with my old Moto Droid) i could put a shortcut on the home screen called "navigator" that looked like a blue mouse pointer, and when you selected it it automatically started the voice entry/input to speak your destination. Does this exist on the Eris (I couldnt find it)

also, i thought the 2.1 update included the voice input key on the keyboard, does it not?

thanx for the help
Danny

In order for the Eris to get the new Google Navi, you must have 2.1(which shouldve been pushed out to you by OTA) or you can install the leak, and once you have 2.1 installed you have to update google maps to 4.2 or whatever the version number is and then she will have it.

as far as text goes you need 2.1 once again and you have to install the speech program. only program that i seen so far that uses speech to text is Handcent

just long press on the hone screen and it should be under programs and you can add the icon from there, or you can hit the + button on the homescreen and add it that way too.

as far as the keyboard goes, i remember seeing somebody mention it before. i'll see if i can remember

Re: questions about the Eris

your android keyboard on 2.1 should have the microphone in the bottom left corner.

[edit] but it only appears on the keyboard when doing certain things (texting, using zedge, etc etc) doesn't seem to work on google search (but it has a voice button anyways) or on the internet.
