How to take apart the Eris!!
OK, so after about a month of trying, I finally got the phone apart and cleaned the dust out!
Here is a short tutorial, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me... 1. Shut phone off, remove battery cover and take out battery. 2. Remove the 4 T5 screws in each of the corners then separate the back cover. 3. Remove the 4 philips screws. 4. Now comes the hard part. There are 3 ribbon cables, one on the right side on top of the main board, the second is in between the main board and the copper covering and the third connects the LCD to the main board. 5. Once all screws and ribbons removed, take a flat head screw driver and slowly peel back the LCD(its stuck with double sided tape. The real thanks go to MORPHEUS2 & JCASE @ irc.wastate.net Morpheus2 walked me through the process with some help from Jcase. And there you go, I hope this helps! |

Re: How to take apart the Eris
OK, so I tried following the Hero's instructions, but the insides of the phones are just too different. Thanks for guide though, it was definitely worth a try. Keep me updated if you find anything else and if I figure it out I will post a tutorial on how to do it, as far as I know there isn't even on anywhere.

Re: How to take apart the Eris
Nope, not yet and I have searched over and over, asked the same question on almost every android/cell phone site I've come across. Nobody seems to have any info on how to do this.

Re: How to take apart the Eris
there was this site from before where you can check FCC documents and stuff. I remember seeing different diagrams and charts, i'm sure it could give you some sort of background on it. I remember using it when checking on the Omnia 2.
Heres the link: http://www.fcc.gov/ im not sure the codename for Eris tho. might take some google searching |
