I've been having the same issue and it was getting worse. Fortunately I found a temp fix until we can figure out why this is happening. Odd. I wonder why EVDO Rev. 0 will work but Rev. A will?

Happening here in the Phoenix metro area also, maybe something to do with Sprint upgrading towers to 4G.
