My brother's going through the same thing with VZ. He called them on Monday and they did not budge. I was really surprised as my brother is a master negotiator. He "could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves ..."

He did however, get them to issue him a one-time credit equivalent to his discount (govt. employee) on the data plan. Unlike Sprint, Verizon only applies any discounts to the calling plan. I tried to talk him into going with Sprint, but who knows. Switching providers can be a big deal and kind of risky, I guess.

the way i did it was get a vogue its the only pda phone you can get from verizon with a pay as you go data plan then you can upgrade to a diamond on the same plan. but the only problem is the verizon diamond blows in my opinion.i hate mine
