WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I just connected my Diamond to my pc and the above warning appeared.
The message on my Diamond reads, "There has been a change made on your server that requires you to resynchronize all items on your device. All changes made since your last successful sync will be lost. Do you wish to continue?"
It asks if I want to continue. YES or NO
Can someone let me know what this all means as I never received this Warning Message before.
It appears that Sprint made changes to their server. If this is true, what might this be.
I posted this thread here because the issue relates to ActiveSync on my Diamond. If this is the wrong forum, please feel free to move it :)
I did not ActiveSync yet as I would like to know what this message means and if anyone else has gotten this message.

I reconfigured WMWiRouter earlier today but I don't know if that woiuld cause the above message to appear. It never has in the past.

sounds like you can just sync again, probably wifirouter config did it.

I didn't know that WMWiFiRouter would cause that message to appear.
Never happened before regarding server change message.

Well back up your stuff to Microsoft My Phone just to be sure.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I had a back up on Spb Backup.
I started ActiveSync and it was kind of weird as I saw the contacts by number counting up. Never saw that during an ActiveSync.
It completed and that was it.
I still don't know what that message was about?

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I used to get this occassionally when syncing with google mobile exchange. For some reason (possibly a server-side update) it will invalidate your certificate on their server and you would be forced to get it back. The problem with that is it has to delete every item you got from the previous server sync to redownload them. It is a weird issue, and i've lost more than a few contactsto it, but it appears to be a semi-normal thing. usually just deleting and re-adding the exchange server fixes the problem. Its a PITA, but it seems like seldomly persistent necessary evil.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

This is why My Phone is way better of a service to use because it doesn't lose stuff until you tell it to, and it is in the cloud so you don't have to worry about compromises unless your password is weak.

I unchecked syncing email in the active sync settings and I've never had the problem again.

I hear ya but it seems that the WARNING message happens so infrequently, that it is hard to be sure that unticking the box is the reason the message never popped up again so far.

Mine does sometimes after a restore...Never been a big deal, it just resyncs and I am done.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I got the same message again regarding a change to the server.
I connected to do an ActiveSync.
On my Diamond, under the word "Synchronizing" it says "Contacts" and underneath that, it says "Processing" and you can see 100 of 538 then 323 of 538 and the numbers keep increasing until completed. Then you see "Appointments" etc.
After the Sync is completed and is successful, I lose all my Speed Dial numbers.
Only a few, but I don't know why this happens.
I never saw this on previous ActiveSync seesions prior to having the pop up message re: the Server Issue.
I don't think I even have to do an ActiveSync as I have nothing from my pc to transfer to my Diamond.
I have Spb Backup that I sync anyway and do back ups from my Diamond to my pc.
I would like to know what the issue is though.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I'm not sure what exactly causes this Warning. I just had it a last week. But you shouldn't need to worry. All it's doing is removing your synced info, and then putting it back just as quick. So whatever you have Activesync back up on your computer to Outlook. It's just redoing the whole thing. Takes about as long as the first sync after a hard reset/flash.

I would imagine that all it means is that something on YOUR "server" aka your computer, changed. For instance you changed a contact in Outlook or something. All it does is go "whoa. these two devices are different. Better resync completely" and it pops up as a vicious warning on your phone/pc when it really isn't anything other than a refresh on the synced info.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I forgot to mention this.
After everything is done, my call logs appear BUT WITHOUT the Contact names.
I usually delete the logs afterwards but I would like to know why :
1) My speed dials don't come back
2) My Call Log contact names don't come back. Just the phone numbers appear.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I've had this happen many times, usually right after I did an spb restore or a new rom or sometimes after changing sync settings. I was always worried about losing stuff and I don't know if I ever did. I don't use exchange server, but sometimes it looks like my phone thinks I do, it might have something to do with that. Activesync is just flakey sometimes, never seen any good explanations.

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

I will disengage ActiveSync and just use Spb Back up.

Hey guys, I tried doing what you said but this still isn't working for me. I went so far as to re-flash MightyROM, but still no luck. Any ideas?

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

Hate to throw a wrench into the server theory. I use an Windows Mobile 6 iPaq and an XP machine with Outlook 2007. My Outlook is not connected to any email account. I sync only Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks. I do not use any network to sync, just a USB cable. This morning I got the "Change Made To Your Server" message. Will probably just back up Outlook and tell it to go ahead and resync everything, but would like MS or someone to explain how to prevent this (or patch it.)

Re: WARNING, There Has Been A Change Made To Your Server

This particular Windows Mobile 6 - 6.5 BUG has been continuously reported since early 2007!

It is bizarre that there is no official mention of this prominent, persistant and widespread bug that is significantly impacting user experience, and there is no reply from Microsoft.

HTC's resolution is to not sync email. LOL. Why have a frakking mobile device if you can't read your email on your device!!? Anyways, HTC are clearly pushing issue back to Microsoft.

Here is a thread on this issue over at Microsoft...

damn, tried posting link but apparently can't post a link in this forum until i have 10 posts so ... just google for ...

social.microsoft.com and this thread id

You lose everything you added to your phone since you last synced.

I'd say that was definately somethig to get VERY UPSET about.

Microsoft are so convinced they are perfect and never make mistakes that cr@p like this often goes on for years with Microsoft just never admitting anything is wrong. They're just a bunch of over confident egomaniacs who can't admit that they frequently bite off far more than they can chew.
