Why is ActiveSync Running in the Background ?
 

When I am not Syncing, I notice the following:
1) When I check Task Manager 3.1, ActiveSync is not running and the Diamond task manager does not show it running either.
So far , so good.
BUT
2) When I check MemMaid, it shows ActiveSync Running even though I am not using it :confused:
Why is this?

When I see it running, I terminate it.
Does it cause battery drain if I don't terminate it, and should I leave it running? if it is really running.

It will drain the battery a little but not much. Codybear is working on a fix that will terminate AS when you are not hooked up to a pc. I think there might be a couple other apps out there but I'm waiting for my man codybear to tackle it. :)

honestly i have never seen this problem on my phone. i used to see it run in the background when i first started my phone on my STOCK rom but now that i run custom roms i never see it anymore

If it wasn't for MemMaid, I would have never known.Why did MemMaid show it running and not the other 2 managers?

It always runs. It's like a part of WM and always has been.

I think it may only run like that if you have the Exchange srver set to sync as items arrive. If you change it to manual and then kill the AS app, I believe it will stop running in the background until you manually open it again.

I forgot that Active Sync is used to download emails on the set schedule I have.
