how to handle wm6.5 text freeze

so almost anyone using any build of any 6.5 rom has probably had the confounded text freeze, when you send a txt message and you cant exit out of the text screen for a minute or two. some say turn power off and back on, but that works maybe 25% of the time. Here's what I have been doing that seems to be working. All ideas on better handlings and maybe even a fix would be appreciated, although no chefs seem to know what the exact cause of this thing is, its still present in the 23001 build:

after you send a text message, hit ok on the top right, then DO NOT hit the X or click on another message thread for about 3 seconds or so, just chill for 3 seconds. THEN go ahead and close out the screen or select another thread. This has been working 100% of the time for me, I hope it helps. I don't know why or how, but it seems to work with no problems or freezes.

been using groove5 all morning, it does the text freeze just like every other 6.5 rom, maybe I just have more saved txt threads. I don't even need them so I may just not restore my txt messages on my next pimbackup, let you guys know if that fixes it. I'm gonna go back to DaReeseBoy's 23001, It's the best 6.5 rom I've used so far.

I don't save my text messages beyond a day.

and I'm guessing you dont get txt freeze on 6.5 either?

do you manually delete the threads or is there a "delete after one day" settings?

edit: isnt mightrom a 6.1 anyways? so were you doing this with 6.5?

Re: how to handle wm6.5 text freeze

I just manually deleted it. And I was on MightyROM5 Beta for a while but I encountered a bug with Windows Media Player and sound not working after a while if I got several text message notifications. But it was mostly stable, yet I wanted stability so I went back to 4 Final.

This happens when you have tons of texts in your inbox or deleted items...empty those out and it doesn't happen.

yeah i noticed, but if I want to keep all of my archived txt messages there should be a fix, the processor isnt that slow is it

Re: how to handle wm6.5 text freeze

It's not slow but when it has to parse that much data it will be.

I've been trying to find a fix since 6.5 came out!!..its extremely annoying!! Every 6.5 rom i've tried has the same txt message problem. I always restore my txts every time i hard reset and still the same freeze. 6.1 handles my txts flawlessly. I heard one way to avoid it is to just delete all the messages every time. But i shouldn't have too :-)

Something that I notice when it hangs is I start the task manager and activsync is running. I wonder if this has something to do with it?

Agreed on the deleting the texts... or at least, deleting most of your text if you want to save some. Normally, when I start seeing the freezing, it reminds me to clear my texts. I used to hate doing this, but finally realized, I don't need a couple hundred texts just sitting on my phone :)

Re: how to handle wm6.5 text freeze

I wish someone would make a program that lets you choose how long to save your texts. I dont want to loose ALL my texts everytime I flash another ROM. And manually deleting hundreds (more like thousands in my case) takes FOREVER! If there was a app that gave you settings such as "remove all texts older than: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, keep all texts" I would buy it in a heartbeat and that might be reason enough for me to stop going back to Mikes 6.1 final over and over. I really like 6.5 but the the text issue is a deal breaker for me. like said earlier, if 6.1 can text fast with my 4k texts then why cant 6.5?

well I had the same complaint and then thought, why the crap do I really need the archived 2000+ text messages? I never read over them again and most are worthless, can you really not clear up your txts? It does solve it completely. And at any rate im sure a fix is not too far off.

yeah i know theres really no need for having so many archived but i do. im gonna try to just delete the biggest thread i have and see how it does then. that should delete about 2k or so.

I just flashed a new 6.5 Rom yesterday, not saving any of my texts as always. I now have... 163 in my inbox. Still getting the horrible lag I was getting before. I know I should delete them, but really? After less than 200 its already freezing up like crazy again?

that should not be happening with only about 200, did you flash back to stock 6.1 before flashing to 6.5 (im assuming you had a custom rom on there before the 6.5 you're talking about now). Also, who's 6.5 are you using, i've had better luck with some. The current one im using runs almost flawlessly and I don't have txt freeze ever.

Yup. Flashed back to shipped, hard reset, clear storage, all the fun stuff. I was on Mystery's ROM, just switched to Mightys. May I ask which 6.5 you're on now that works so well?

I haven't used that yet, you can also use PIMbackup to archive stuff (which is what I use every time I reflash)
