Dropping first word in text messages
 

When replying to text messages, the first word I type is frequently automatically deleted. I have seen several references to this problem in the forum, but I have not been able to find if anyone ever found a way to fix it.

I am using Sprint Rom ver. 2.00.651.7 and alternate between Fingerkeyboard and compact qwerty for text entry.

Is there a fix for this?

are you speaking of first word or first letter.. im just curious cause ive pretty much just heard about the first letter not coming up...

The entire first word. The word appears in the t9 selection box but when I hit the space key or select the word from the t9 options the word disappears and then the message continues normally starting with the 2nd word I type. Plus, when I use a signature, the cursor moves past the sig and starts entering text at that point starting with the second word I typed.

It appears to occur randomly but very frequent.

make sure you have the text box selected, and the cursor is flashing. i do it all the time. especially when im trying to catch my keyboard from disappearing when texting.

I was able to reproduce the problem by intentionally deselecting the text box and typing a word. I will try to watch for this in the future and see if it stops this problem. But I don't unerstand why sometimes the text box would not be automatically selected when you pull up the keyboard.

Nor do i. just another bug... i heard there is a fix for the disappearing keyboard. i think that might help. not sure. and too lazy to see. i can deal with it.
