Confirmed ROMs & Carriers

Hey all, I've seen a few people that seem to ask similar questions when it comes to what ROMs work for which carriers, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling and say what works for me. What you you think?

I'll try and update this first post as others reply so the information is easier to find. When you post a ROM confirmation, try to include a link to the post that contains the ROM.

Re: Confirmed ROMs & Carriers

so for bell

i have used (WM 6.5 roms):
Trident's power Rom (generic version)
Mystery's Mystery Rom
da_reeseboy's 6.5 Rom (generic Rom)
scrosler 6.5 SSK 2.0 Rom (generic Rom)
DryBonz Bear Bonz Rom ( Development discontinued)

All roms that i played with, ran really good, and were pretty stable.

Carrier really doesn't matter. The only feature that would likely change is MMS, other than that, all ROMs should work for all carriers.

Added JUICY 8 - Build 090618 for Telus.

True dat. But I see the question pop up from time to time so I thought it wouldn't hurt to put something up.

Yeah, we know that, but the n00bs don't. Seems like you always tryin to pee in someone's wheeties. I think this is a gret idea, possibly even Sticky material once it gets going. :)

Im on Sprint and so far i have only tried Rystoyguy's and the Sprint one to upgrade the radio. Both work flawlessly. As soon as i read up on Sashimi i will be flashing a lot more. I will report back.

No reply from Tobey, I'm shocked

So why not tell them that it makes no difference instead of leading them to believe that carrier is important?

For the most part, I try to be as clear an as helpful as I can in giving correct information, as opposed to giving long lists of superfluous information.

And have you ever tried pee wheaties? Who's to say they're not 10x better?

Have you tried every rom on every device? Then how can you be sure. Yes, they 'should' work on every carrier, but until someone trys it you/we dont know for sure.

And no, i have never tried wheaties at all. However I know for a fact pee does not taste good. Special Ops training sucks. I also had to eat hissing ****roaches, which surprisingly aren't that bad once you get over the initial crunchiness.

I have Sprint and have tried basically every non-carrier-specific ROM posted on this forum, starting with the old Juicy ROMs that were the first to be "generic."

I've never had any sort of data or comm problem with any of them.

While the thread idea might be nice, I think it's kinda pointless. The generic ROMs all work on all CDMA carriers just fine.

Or the OP could just amend "All generic ROMs" under Sprint, at the very least. It's not like my post contained no pertinent information.

True that. I think there is some confusion about carrier customizations etc. I think the way it works is you can flash pretty much any radio from these threads and it wont replace your PRL/PRI info. Basically every rom in the upgrades forum I have tried and every rom works great with telus and bell, I've tried with both. The only times that a rom didn't work was when I was playing around with radio files and it wasn't really that the rom didn't work but more that the radio I flashed after or before flashing my os was totally screwed and the radio didn't work. Most of the rom creators in these forums add something to the end of their posts like "Rom was created for sprint only but may work on other devices" I think because they include things like certain sprint softwares, not that their rom will probably not work with another carrier even if it is branded sprint.

Re: Confirmed ROMs & Carriers

Hey everyone , I've now left the other forums & now stepped into the big man's lot. Ok I may be the fool making a mistake but I want to get p***** that. Now my contract is up & my PC & I want to DL some of these updates & load them into my unused STP's, so where are these ROM updates & where is this Sashimi at?
You want to teach, share whatever, here I am ready to test all these out.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, I've added grooveROM 5 to Telus list.

We can all agree that pretty much any ROM should work on any carrier. But like Willis111 said in #16, some ROM cooks make their ROMs with a specific carrier in mind and as such package different applications with it that are more specific to that carrier.

My intention was not to get into a big debate about which ROM is better and for what reason. Everyone has their preference. I just wanted to try and compile a list of "confirmed" ROMs - ones that have been tested and can be expected to work on a specific carrier. I was a noob a long time ago too (still have my Apache and cook my own ROMs for it) and if someone woud have taken the time to compile a list of what ROMs others have successfully used and for what carrier it would have put my mind at ease to think that at least someone else has got it working for my carrier for the ROM I want to try. (Does that make any sense???)

Anyway, if the information isn't useful the thread will die a slow and painless death. It doesn't matter to me, I just was trying to be helpful to some of the more junior members.

How about this question:

Has anyone had a generic ROM *not* work on their Diamond? Give us the details please.

Updated. Thanks. I don't have a link to the Stock Sprint ROM though. The links on HTC's site all link to the maintenance release.

Thanks all, I've updated the list for the confirmed Sprint and Alltel ROMs. I also just tried the new JUICY 8 - Build 090704V (23001.5.0.60) [UC] ROM on Telus and it seems to be working, thought a little lacking in the input keyboard department. :(
