Force Activesync Connection

Hey all,
My brother dropped his Diamond, and the screen is no longer displaying anything or responding at all to touches. The phone still starts up and is usable through hard buttons, but other than that can't do anything. Before re-flashing stock and re-locking the phone he wants me to save his contacts, which I know I can do by copying the pim.vol on the device. The only problem is that usually when he plugs his phone in to the computer, he uses the removable disk option rather than the Activesync connection. This means that I only have access to his internal storage, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the phone into Activesync mode. Is there any way to force it?
Thanks in advance,
- Hind1

You can go to the USB2PC settings in the control panel and uncheck the don't ask option. At that point you should be able to reselect active-sync with the D-PAD. Another option is to install my-mobiler and use the PC to control the phone

The screen on the phone is dead so I can't do anything from the phone right now except using the d-pad, power button and volume rockers. I have been trying to use the D-Pad to select active-sync, but I can't seem to get it. ](*,)

Can you just use the d-pad to go to the programs screen in manila, roll up to select programs, find an empty slot, hopefully, and then add active-sync. Maybe if you manually launch it with the device connected to the PC it will work? I wish I could be more help, but my usb port is busted, so I can't test the solution before I suggest it!

Nah, tried quite a few times and can't get it to work. Any other ideas? :)

Not at the moment, if I think of something else, I'll check back in!

Why not just get a new screen? Or buy a Bluetooth keyboard?

does he have mortscript installed? you could copy it with that if you wrote a script

can you autorun something from the root of internal storage? wouldn't autorun execute when you disconnect the usb and the diamond is given back the int. storage card?

dunno for sure - just a thought.
