Dashwire is by far the best. Wirelessly backs up all your contacts, calls, texts, photos, videos, and more.

PIM Backup^

that is the easiest way to backup your phone. you can backup contacts, texts, emails, appointments, etc. Its really easy and fast! You can put your backup in internal storage, then to restore, just click on restore!

If you have alot of texts it may take a while to restore lol, I have over 1000 texts and so it takes like 10 minutes to restore all those, but if you just backup contacts/restore, it takes like 10 seconds

I agree, it even lets your view/send/receive text messages, and keeps your pictures and videos uploaded too.

Re: best way to backup contacts?

having tried a lot of backup software, i think it all depends on what you want to do. if you're just interested in backing up your contacts then pim backup is a good option, if you want to backup your contacts, texts, pics and such try out dashwire. it also automatically backs up after every soft reset. or if you want a full backup of your programs, contacts, texts. maybe you should invest in spb backup.

+1 for PIM Backup, its easy and fast takes less than a minute to back up everything on my phone to my SD card.

and if you want to back it up to a Server try Funambol.

Re: best way to backup contacts?

yup, i use PIM backup. remember to save in your Internal Storage and if possible, create a copy of the backup file on your computer (in case you need to clear Internal Storage).

Re: best way to backup contacts?

more importantly, why can't you get Outlook to work? Does it not work on the PC end or PPC end? What ROM are you using?

Re: best way to backup contacts?

Dashwire does everything automatically, and syncs more than just contacts, and it's free. You can also text and call people straight from the Dashwire site and do other nifty things.

I usually keep a backup of my backup on my skydrive with my hotmail account (along with all of my .cab files) for easy finding. incase i have to hard reset the internal storag and what not.

Re: best way to backup contacts?

Do yourself a favor and use more than one backup as well. There's nothing worse than your phone crapping out AND having your micro SD or internal storage get corrupted too.

I use PIMBackup, myphone from microsoft, and outlook. I'm thinking of using googlesync too, just in case. I've seen more than a few people lose all thier data because of a bad phone, or (most of the time) a badly abused, damaged, or liquid damaged phone.

There is no way I would ever put all that info on a public server myself.

I use Sprite & BU to my card, that way I know what's private will stay that way............

Re: best way to backup contacts?

Best is to keep contacts on Windows Live - store them in the cloud - Windows Live will sync both email and contacts to your phone.

Re: best way to backup contacts?

I seem to be cursed here. I have had PIM back up in almost every ROM I've used, but I haven't been able to successfully back up contacts since last November. It will let me restore the back up I made in November everytime, but no matter which ROM, it just won't let me back up again - anyone know why?

I tried to download Sprite from their website, but it had a virus that it put on my PC - at least according to my anti-virus software.

I tried the Microsoft MyPhone, but it won't let me connect since I am just on the waitlist for the beta and didn't actually get in. Any work arounds for this?

I have a Dashwire account, but I guess it seems like a pain to re-sync after every flash since it wants to be installed to main memory and takes forever on an initial sync.
