Rhodium Finger Menu available as CAB!

1 Attachment(s)
The Rhodium style finger menus that replaced standard WM popup windows is now available as a CAB.

It works flawlessly for Diamonds, and it's pretty much just amazing. Groove's Rhodium build didn't have the arrows working, this CAB does.

It fits into TF3D much nicer, and is amazing overall.

Thanks to Dharvey and the group at XDA for this release.

REQUIRES SYS 21000 OR HIGHER, CURRENTLY NOT FUNCTIONING ON 6.5

Re: Rhodium Finger Menu available as CAB!

It says in the first post of the XDA link that it requires ROMS of 21000 or higher. Please post that so geeks know.

I'm using it on Groove4 6.1. It rules.

Re: Rhodium Finger Menu available as CAB!

no, it will not work on stock ROM, the sys isn't 21000+.

upgrade your ROM, it's definitely the way to go.

And I doubt we'll see it working on 6.5 anytime soon, sorry!

Hmm... installed this on my custom rom from Calc's 4.6 kitchen to play around with it and it didn't change my menus. Not sure why.

Did you check your messaging menu? I just installed the cab, not quite ready for 4.6, and I noticed the difference right away.

A couple other people reported it not working in 4.6 over in Calc's thread as well.

Looks awesome.

I tried it on Mightyrom even though 4.6 isn't running 21000 or higher. No dice. Oh well.

Like I stated before, 21000 is required, no way around it.

Sorry guys.

Sorry guys.

Calc's 4.6 kitchen is 21038. Cab doesn't work with it.

4.5 was 21028 4.6 is 21038. Reports are that 21028 likes the cab better.

Just read this over at XDA. Have not tested it:

"You can overwrite the following files on a 20xxx build with ones from a 21xxx build and it will work.

gwes.exe
gwes.exe.0409.mui

I have a Sprint Touch Pro running Might ROM 4.14 which uses build 20771 and the Rhodium menu and notification enhancements work fine."

*edit* Just tried this on my custom 21038 build (previously would not work read above) and it works like a charm.

I just loaded the cab on a Calcu 4.5 cooked ROM (SYS 21028) and this thing works like a charm!

Fits very nice into TF3D.

This actually makes WM look nicer too!

Yo Bonz can you further elaborate on the steps how you got this to work or post the XDA post you got these gwes.exe files? I just tried on my leaked Diamond ROM build 20xxx (sorry I forget the exact build). I unzipped these files to my Windows Directory, soft reset, and now phone is stuck on loader mode "Touch Diamond" with info on bottom.

Was I supposed to install CAB first and then unzip the files?

I dumped the 2 files in my windows directory then loaded the cab then soft reset. I am on a 21038 rom, but I have read that people have used this technique successfully on 20XXX.

Also... both files should overwrite (I use Resco).

Thanks man. I was reading other users were experiencing the same problem with the Sprint ROMs official/leaked. I think I am going to flash my ROM to a custom finally. Think I am going to play with the WinMo 6.5 ROMs to check it out. Thanks man.

Haven't noticed anything like that, but I think someone else over in the Calc's kitchen thread reported loss of alerts, etc... maybe you should read up over there.

There's actually a few files you can drop into your Windows folder that allows the new softmenus to work. I have to find them, but I'm working on a 20000+ rom on my TP and i copied these files, installed cab, soft reset, I got nice scrollable large menus.

**EDIT**

Here it is:

1) Unzip contents
2) Move into Windows folder
3) Soft Reset
4) Install new menu cab
5) Soft Reset
6) Enjoy
7) Be glad you don't have to re-flash a new ROM
8) Enjoy again

Re: Rhodium Finger Menu available as CAB!

I was going to try that with the Stock Sprint ROM, but those 2 files already exist (older versions I assume?) and it won't let me overwrite them, delete them, or even rename them. Is there a workaround for this? Have been out of the loop.

It's all already been covered on page 2 and 3 of this thread.

groovafied,

Thanks for the how-to. To clairfy, which ROM are you running? Also, which program did you use to copy the gwes.exe into the Windows folder (i.e. Total Commander, Resco, other)? I'm usinig SOTI, but it won't let me copy. Thanks for the help.
