Change TF3D background...
 

I'm trying to change the TF3D background on my gf's Sprint Diamond from that blueish background to a different one. I've been skimming through the forums but I guess I'm overlooking this? Will some one PLEASE point me out in the right direction?? Thanks!

You can use Manila Editor and edit this file 4a087e41_manila, thats the sprint manila background. By doing so you will change the background in all tabs, not only on the home screen tab.

Also search for background4allpages, that will change the background on each manilla tab.

I've done this, I want to get all the tabs with the same wallpaper - thanks for helping though :)

do you know of a working one? the ones I've tried I get like an uncaught exception error and can't run it! :( also I can't find 4a087e41_manila in my windows directory - it goes from 4a059ff8_manila to 4a84adf3.. is it somewhere else?

I've actually tried this - it does make all the tab wallpaper the same but it messes up my clock!

only way I got mines to work was to use Mobilematt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452107 You have to turn off TFlo3D until you install it on un your phone Once installed turned TFlo3D back on Then you can select any wallpaper and it will show on all the screens. It takes a while to install so be patient

I'm having the same problem. I'm running MightyMikes ROM but I want to change the diamond background to the Sprint version.
I tried replacing 4a087e41_manila with the Sprint one and nothing changed?
background4allpages does work but I still want to be able to change my home screen wallpaper with out changing all the other tabs?

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

go to tf3d tab wallpaper change it there it only changes home page

Yes, I know that. What I am looking for is to change all the backgrounds to the Sprint instead of the fading diamond version the MightyMike uses. The only way I have been able to do this is with "background4allpages" but then I loose the ability to change just the home page tab with out changing all the rest.

In a nut shell I want the Sprint background on all tabs but still have the ability to change the home tab wallpaper independently.

There's a way to do it, but it doesn't exactly work "on the fly." You have to do some modifications to get it to work right, so changing the background on the fly like on the flip background for all pages, doesn't work as of yet. (to my knowledge)

I'm thinking I might start a thread and start helping people with these, as it's quite... complicated to do... but it only works with 512x512 pictures. But that's better than nothing!

Basically, there's a background for all tabs manila file, by default it's a very small picture and it doesn't contain anything, but it can be modified to contain a picture and increased in size, which is what the process above does. I made mine into a cab file so I don't have to use Total commander to copy it in manually.

I'm thinking I might just start a thread and start making cabs for people to simply download and install as they choose.

If someone knows of a way to get it to work by simply changing the wallpaper in the setting screen, let us all know...

Unknownforce, thanks for the info.

I looked at the 4a087e41_manila file that I was using with the hex editor and it already has been modified per your instructions and the graphic is the right size. Still doesn't work for me?
I'm starting to think that MightyMikes ROM must be using a different file for this background information, is that possible?

Are you using Sprint Digital clock or a flip clock?

There's your problem. This modification is only for Sprint digital clock, that file doesn't even get used by the flip clock...

But I re-read the post, let me get this straight... you want one background for the home tab... and a different background for all the others..?

I'm not sure that's possible... for the flip clock anyways... But it is possible to do the same background for ALL tabs, including the home tab.

Doesn't matter what service or ROM you're using, if you have the flip clock it's no longer considered Sprint, sprint uses Digital.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, I've noticed that messing with the clock more than once or twice on any fresh ROM load is bad and screws up the clock. (makes the clock say 12:59 or 0:00 all the time, kills the AM/PM indication... all kinds of weird stuff) So it's best to install this first after a fresh load and THEN load your customizations... make sure you backup with SPB or PIM.

Let me try and re-phrase what I am looking for. I want the Sprint background on all the tabs just like a stock Sprint ROM. I also want to keep the stock functionality of the "wallpaper" setting. ie. if I go to setiings/wallpaper and change it only the home page is affected not the other tabs.
I tried a "background4all" cab and it allows me to load the Sprint background but when I go to settings/wallpaper and change that it effects all the tabs.

I'll look into the link you posted and see if that works for me.

I think I understand now. So basically, you want it like the Sprint has it set up, to where if you change the "settings/Wallpaper" setting, that only affects the home page. And you're looking for a specific background for the rest of the tabs. (a sprint background) I thought most flip clocks came stock like that, but maybe mighty changed the default background... Here's an option... Try this...

Install the sprint clock, then install the sprint2flip clock.

Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for. I just don't like the background that Mighty uses and I want it to look like the stock Sprint. The flip clock I can add later if I could just get the background to work.

I just tried your sprintclock cab and no go. Got the clock but the background is still the same. Here is what I ended up with. I can't believe I'm having such a hard time with this, it seems like it should be a simple manila file or something like that?

JPeepers... try this one. I did the same edit with the 4a.... file but used Chainfire's editor and "trimmed" the file .. there is a choice to trim or pad.. pad is for cooking into roms.. trim is for replacing single files. so I opened a padded file and trimmed it.. Hope this does what you're wanting!

This worked for me! I was having issues where this was messing up my clock so I hard reset and installed this first and it's working - all my tabs I can change the background on! Also I found out there's more than 1 version of this cab, I think that was the problem also. Thanks!

EDIT: After a soft reset, it's still messing up my clock... I guess this isn't working with the ROM I'm using...

Here's a couple things... Try the SprintBackgroundAllTabs.cab first. It might work, it might not. Just something I found over at XDA.

If it doesn't work, Download TF3D Config and the theme file and try that along with the sprint2flip clock I posted earlier.

I have the TF3D Config tool, downloaded the theme file... when I open TF3D, go to the appearance tab, then select the path to the folder of the Sprint theme, it does't detect anything and I can't apply? Is there another way?

Okay I think I finally got it.

"SprintBackgroundAllTabs.cab" did not work. It actually locked up TF3D.

TF3D Config and the Sprint theme worked ....but I lost the HD people tab (reverted back to regular people tab).
So I stuck with that, loaded the HD People cab to fix that then loaded my white flip clock cab to get the clock I like.:confused2:
Man, what I pain in the *** all because I wanted to change the background!

I did extract the zip file. I have the actual theme file in the My Documents folder on the phone, not the SD card...

Don't know then, I have never used TF3D config, just saw that theme, and suggested that he try it. It worked for him... not sure why it's not working for you.

USER ERROR! haha. I feel like an idiot... lol After selecting the path of the theme, I never selected it in the drop down box... I got it now!

JPeepers... I bet the manila in your rom is pointing to a different file for the background which is why none of our "fixes" of a specific manila (IE the original sprint background file) didn't work.

I posted there first but got no answer. I'm using MightyMikes ROM (which is great by the way) but he has been spending most of his time in the Touch Pro forum.
