Programming hard pauses?

i've read that in order to program a pause is to put a "p" in between numbers. for example:

555-555-5555p5555

however, the "ABC" key is greyed out. is it because i'm using the groove ROM? or is there another way to program the pause?

I had the same problem. All I did was created a text message or whatever and typed a P, copied it, and pasted it into the number.

im pretty sure one of the stock keyboards has a pause key!!

I put in commas for hard pauses, works for me.
