broken speaker?

i looked high and low for a solution to my problem. My speaker
seems broken. i dont think its rom related but this all started after i installed mighty 4.1 and then totaly broken with 4.2. i can start a mp3 or whatever uses the speaker(ear speaker still works thank god)
but then cuts off while playing, then works again
when it feels like it. when pluging the headphones
there is no problem, music rings all sounds
are ok. also if i fast forward in mp3 it works then cuts off again. i called telus techsup and they said they will replace the phone. i already re-flashed to telus stock and relocked the phone. i hope i dont have problems exchanging

yes tried many different roms. im running vista and xp(no change). Im not trying to imply that mighty is the cause. just wondering if anyone is having similar issue. Currently running latest telus stock rom with radio update. still speaker cutting in and out... mostly out. im rather sad this expensive jewel has a broken speaker. its not so bad aleast i still have a warranty.

Same thing happened to me. Mine was related to water damage when I checked the little thing that turns red instead of staying pink (hope you know what I'm talking about). I had to replace it with insurance. Hope this helps.

I was running Mighty 4.0 by the way and even after I relocked and went back to stock sprint it only worked for a while then went out again.

Re: broken speaker?

no water damage here... atleast the 2 stickers(phone + battery) are ok.
If this is due to water damage I am lucky the stickers didnt run red. The phone is out to HTC for repair should be getting a replacement by the end of the week. Telus store really didnt have much as far as loaners go... they only had an ancient blackberry. I took one look at this thing that was only a little smaller than my notebook PC and thought... no way... you can keep it.
