I use Amaze GPS for turn-by-turn navigation. It's big advantages are that it's free and no map download is required. So, no cost and no taking up that valuable 4 gig space. However, the disadvantage is that without a map it needs to use a data connection consistently. That means if you don't have unlimited data, it will be expensive. I think the advantage to letting the Diamond Battery die before recharging for a week or so is that it caliberates the meter. And I have found it does help. I don't think it actually does anything with the battery, because as the article says, the lithium batteries don't have the memory effect. Plus, I don't think the Diamond truly lets a battery fully die before shutting off, so I think everyone is probably safe from needing a skin graft anytime soon.
