help with techy lingo

can someone please tell me what sip and cab and the other abreviations used on here mean? and how do I make modifications to my phone if I am not tech savvy? A few things I'm looking to do: have tactile (haptic feedback) when using the screen, use songs loaded on my phone as ringers and I'm sure I'll come up with more as I get used to the phone.

SIP = Software Input(I think?), It's like a onscreen keyboard.

CAB = Somewhat like a EXE for your computer, except for your phone. Automatically installs that software for you.

Look up "Touch Response" for haptic feedback.

Also, your phone should have software on it "MP3 Cutter", which is extremely easy and simple to use to make ringtones for your phone.

"Thanks" if this helped :)

okay here is a haptic feedback cab. if you download it from your computer just hook up your phone to your computer and transfer the cab to your internal storage. the other alternative is to use your phone's browser and go to this page and download it directly to your phone. Either way, after it is on your phone use your "file explorer" to navigate to where you stored it. then just open it and it should automatically install it on your phone. Once it is installed go to your settings and change them to fit your needs.

Re: help with techy lingo

I figured out how to get the files onto my phone but I can't open the setup file that has all the code in it. I get an error that says "invalid URL" http:// "file:/Internal Storage / ... characters that are not valid in the location they are found."

"the reason for their presence may be a mistyled URL, but the URL may also be an attempt to trick you into visiting a Web site which you might mistake for a site you trust."

when I try to click one of the white paper looking things that say "TOUCHR~1" I get an error saying " there is no application associated with "TOUCHR~1". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."

I dont know what all of this means. What did I do wrong?

dont unzip the cab on your computer. transfer the cab unzipped to you phone and open it up on your phone. look for it with file explorer

I didn't click on anything to unzip the file, I don't know how it zips or unzips. And what are those 5 "touchr~1" pages? if I click open on those on my computer it just shows funky symbols.

You're opening the CAB file, a CAB is a WM zip file basically.

Open File Explorer, and double tap the touchresponse.cab

Re: help with techy lingo

thank you so much for helping me through this. I have it working, it's a miracle! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I do wonder how I disable it if I should need to? And is there a way to change how long the vibe lasts etc?

And since you've been so helpful on this thread, I don't see the item suggested that can create ring tones. where do I find this on my phone?
