Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

It does work but what I had to do was simply uninstall Windows Mobile Device Center (program carries over but it seems the drivers screwed up) and reinstall to properly reinstall the drivers. Once that was done it was recognized by both WMDC and the Sync Center. You will be able to tell it worked once you reinstall and informs its installed new drivers.

I had to do this due to the fact that I had upgraded vista instead of doing a fresh install of Windows 7 (which carries over all your programs and files!) Seems the drivers for mobile devices were the only things I could see effected so far so a reinstall took care of it. If you did a fresh install have WMDC and are still having issues send feedback to microsoft.

Hopes this helps :)

Thanks a bunch it did help, I'm loving windows 7 by the way. It blows vista out of the water, I'm surprised Microsoft did a public beta

I have zero problems with my Diamond in Windows 7. Just installed WMDC and away I went.

The Diamond and windows 7 have been flawless as of when i reinstalled everything, It's cool to see a lot of ppc geeks in the Cleveland area. We have another clevelander on ppc geeks who works for the same indirect company as I do selling Alltel and Sprint.

I didn't install anything and it did it for me with no sync errors, I am saying that I didn't install wm device center, it downloaded that and installed drivers, my printer worked the same way. I also loaded wm 7 on my old laptop and it still runs smoothly

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

Just a quick add. Tethering also works aswell.

With a fresh install of Windows 7 it seems easy for the operating system to instantly find and download the needed drivers (loaded 7 in another laptop) it even displayed a new type of device window which I found nice but limited like the regular sync center. The HTC Modem Driver installation from my disk however didnt seem to fair well though I didnt need it after it found its own drivers. I got the error "This application is for WinXP, Vista(32), Vista(64) only" Which I found interesting since it seems the drivers are still the same.

Also I get a wierd error when trying to use my CD to install WMDC. It appears that with the upgrade the flash needed no longer recognized it even though it flash was installed and working (even with a reinstall) it showed that it needed adobe 8 or higher so be prepared with a connection to the net if you plan on a install/reinstall.

Since Windows 7 is still beta this may just be my copy or my experience with my equipment. Ive been sending feedback to MS like crazy to make this thing worth money. :) hopefully it will be better as I really do like the OS better than Vista (though its seems more of a cool Vista SP then an ACTUAL upgrade as of yet but we will see.)

Hopes this Helps with some questions.

So far I'm happy with Windows 7. I too am sending feedback whenever possible. It's too bad their new WMDC dubbed "Device Stage" doesn't support Windows Mobile devices yet. But at least Vista's WMDC works for now. :)

If you get errors regarding an incompatible OS, right click on the installer -> properties and go to the compatibility tab and enable it. It should allow the drivers to install afterwards.

This is exactly it, I'm using my laptop that i got about 5 yrs ago came with XP, and for a couple drivers off the restore disk I have to do this. Wireless wasn't automatic, but after a I searched for it under device manager all was good.

I am running Windows 7 RC1 and ran into no problems getting it to recognize (the beta was problematic to say the least). Good to see that I am not the only one who really loves 7 over vista.

Install the wmdc driver update and then connect your phone to your pc ...

Edit: I used my windows 7 beta for a while but too much incompatible software for an OS that's supposed to fully backwards compatible ... gfg M$

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

Has anyone had success flashing a ROM with a RomUpdateUtility.exe program wither their Diamond and Windows 7?

I keep running into a problem that I think occurred in Vista - the update gets stuck at 0% and times out.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I've looked around, but have not been able to find anything yet.

Thank you,

/e

Not sure why that happens but its done that to me too. Sometimes it doesnt even get to the loading screen just stays in the bootloader with the multi colors. I just keep trying and eventually it updates.

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

I thought I was the only one who had this problem. After I create a ROM and flash, it would get stuck on the bootloader. After restarting the phone, my next attempt to flash works.

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

All of my flashes except 3 has been successful. I have a TP though. when i was unsuccessful I i just ran the .exe again regardless what screen my phone showed, it worked. So if it is unsuccessful, try running the .exe again.

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

I finally got Win7 installed via bootcamp on my Macbook. It's running flawlessly. Plugged my Diamond in, it was instantly recognized and downloaded the needed drivers. Wifi worked with out tinkering. Even tethering just worked. Im very impressed. Also somewhat amused as this iteration has a very Apple type of look/feel to it.

Edit: Those of you having problems flashing should try just flashing from internal storage, its 100% easier, and you can keep many ROMs for a quick change on the go. Just make sure you have like 75% battery.

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

Installed Windows 7 RC finally tonight....no problems at all so far. I went into the bootloader screen then connected USB because the ROM I'm using is having some USB/sync issues...Win7RC installed drivers auto and even launched WMDC(sans install) once I was booted into the new ROM...Loving this OS so far...

Re: Windows 7 and HTC Diamond

I have been using windows 7 since the release of the beta 7000 series, I am currently using the Win7 RC1. And for all of these problems to be fixed, all you have to do is, setup a basic sync with WMDC, and start doing the normal flash procedure. If you have not done this, the OS is missing some drivers, you can either do a carrier ROM update or flash the device, once you do that, you'll notice that the Win7 info center is downloading a driver, this driver is for the RDNIS, once the driver for the RDNIS is downloaded, you shouldn't have any issues! Thats what I did, and it works flawlessly!
