CAB to conserve memory

2 Attachment(s)
WAS VERY TIRED MAKING THE THREAD, THIS HELPS WITH MEMORY AND PERFORMANCE, NOT BATTERY LIFE

Alright, got a cab file for it made and working.

Basically this is what it does:

All messages, including email and text messages are stored under main memory. If you use a lot of email or texts, or send and receieve a lot of attachments, it's going to build up and your phone memory and performance will suffer.

So what this registry tweak does is simply move the storage space of messages/attachments to your internal storage, saving you precious RAM.

Exact Registry Tweaks for those who like to do it themselves:

HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings

add "PropertyPath" with the string of "\Internal Storage\Messaging"
add "AttachPath" with the string of "\Internal Storage\Messaging\Attachments"

Saves a lot of space.

Make sure to soft reset after installing the cab

This tweak should move all messages over to the new internal storage folder, if not just select all files under Windows/Messaging and move them to there, else delete them.

does it slow down bringing the actual messages up, or sending/receiving?

No it does not, I've texted probably over 1500 messages after making this adjustment and it's never been slower on either.

I haven't been able to test the pro, but im fairly sure it should work with no problems.

Try it out.

Re: CAB to conserve memory

so if we apply your tweak, and then flash a rom...would all of our messages be kept on our internal storage even after the flash?

intx 01-05-2009 10:58 PM

Re: CAB to conserve memory

Yeah, since flashing only wipes main memory.

It would all still be kept on there.

Using this will cause random issues for launching Messaging application, I used to have this tweak and sometimes texting and messaging acted up. What I did was just storing the attachments on internal memory and messages on main since messages do not take a lot of memory.

Just FYI.

I've used this tweak (edited reg not cab) on my Diamond and Pro for months.. no issues at all. Saves space for sure. I'm running a nice even 35mb free on my device storage memory with this tweak and sending opera cache and temp downloads to storage card. No slow downs either.
