custom TXT msg alert sounds help
 

Hi, I just have a question. Is it possible to change the tx msg alert noise with a custom file? Currently I tried to convert a an mp3 to WMA to use for my new alert. In case your curious on what alert im trying to make, its the monkey howl from the Disturbed song called Down with the sickness :P lol
I tried to convert the cut audio and place it in the ring folder in the system folder but when I went to change the notifaction sound it was not listed :(
Anyways ideas?

yup just put it in the windows folder and it will show up in the list of sounds.

Oops my bad, I meant to say the windows folder thats where i put it.
there is a folder in windows that says ring and that is where I put it.

put it in the windows folder, not the rings folder in windows

Why not just keep it as an mp3? This notification can be either .wav or .mp3... And windows will pick it up in either

\windows or \my documents

and a couple other places as well...

....or specify a different location at:

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\ {a877d65b-239c-47a7-9304-0d347f580408}
"Wave"="\My Documents\txtmsg.mp3"

or easiest way would be to drop it directly in my documents
