Best way to remove duplicate contacts?
 

I made the mistake of allowing plaxo to synchronize yahoo contacts (which I had not used in a year or so) into my mix with google contacts and outlook contacts. Now I have about 600 extra contacts (for a total of about 2,000). Many contacts I just have to delete (no longer needed) but many more duplicates.

Other than scrolling through outlook and sorting by firelds for create date, name, phone number, company, etc., and manually deleting duplicates, is there an easy way to weed out duplicates?

Wow....you have a lot of work ahead of ya. Don't you have a PIM backup file for your original contact list? If so, then try to restore it. I've always used PIMbackup to keep a backup of my original list in the event I have a problem like yours.

Use DupeDeDupe. Compares all of your contacts by name, numbers, etc. and then deletes the duplicates in seconds.

SK Tools would do the trick as well. I usually get dupes when I sync with Lotus notes at work.

contact cleaner also but dupededupe does it. its free. and has a cool name :headbang:

ODIR (Outlook Duplicate Items Remover) can do this. I am not sure if it removes them if the contacts aren't identical though.
