Unfortunately I dont believe so. I roam on 1x as well occasionally and the data speeds are 1/5 as fast. I would be great if someone knew a way though.

I fail to see how the quoted thread can help "some of" OP's problems. He is asking for a way to get EVDO while roaming on Verizon. The quoted thread does not offer a solution for that. The thread is full of speculations on how roaming may affect battery life.

Sprint's roaming agreement with Verizon is only for 1xRTT and not EVDO. I have not seen/heard of a solution to circumvent that. Someone tried to edit their PRL to make their phone "think" that they are on Sprint's network even though they are connect to Verizon in an attempt to get DO, but last heard, it didn't work so well.

I only read the beginning of the thread where they state that a regedit abled them to roam on EVDO (which is what the OP is trying to do). That's all.

The thread starts off like this:

"If you're unfortunate like me and do not have but sprint 1x service, just enable roaming and you'll be up to speed. From what I deduce, this roams voice too. I needed both and it works"

I also stated that "perhaps" it may help them. Perhaps not. But all of your rant definitely didn't help them. Either way, I fail to see how your comment helped anyone at all?? Sarcastic remarks are also useless.

Anyways, I wished the OP good luck, and I'll do it again.

Good luck. I hope you find a solution.

You are wrong there too. Since the Alltel acquisition. Verizon Wireless is honoring Alltel's EVDO roaming agreements with Sprint. SO, yes Sprint can roam on Verizon Wireless EVDO network.

Here is a whole article on it:
