Activesync / Exchange delays? as items arrive doesn't always work

I have an Alltel Diamond and run Activesync to an Exchange 2007 server.

I get very unreliable connections with Activesync when it is set to "as items arrive". Each morning I should have about 20 messages that were delivered overnight, but they are not there until I run a sync manually.

Sometimes they won't arrive at all until I reboot the phone.

I have tried "every 5 minutes" with some success, but that doesn't work 100% either.

I am the Exchange admin of the system that I am using, so I am aware of all the standard troubleshooting stuff. (hard reset, reconfigure the account, etc.) It just appears that Activesync is not stable on the Diamond.

I don't have any other users complaining of the same issue (there are hundreds of users on WM6.x where I work), so I don't think the server is the cause.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a solution?

Thanks!

I'm on day 4 and PPCKitchen ROM #12 with this phone (Touch Diamond CDMA) and I am starting to experience what you have described.

If I go into ActiveSync it displays the connected screen and if I look at settings, items are set to as arrive, even when roaming.

Even with this setup, quite often I have to click the sync soft-key in order to ensure that I am current on email.

I don't want to start casting stones or anything but...

I always had this problem with WinMo phones on Alltel's network. Treo 700wx, HTC Titan, HTC Touch... they all had this issue. I personally think it is some kind of "keep alive" setting that Alltel uses on their data network because I have never had a problem with many, many different WinMo phones on Sprint's network, including my Diamond and Touch Pro. I also have several other users in my office that use a Diamond/Samsung Ace/Moto Q9c/Touch/Touch Pro and none of them have sync issues.

I also am the Exchange Admin for our company and would know (all too well) if there were problems...

I would imagine that it is something (configuration) with the Diamond.

I had a Sprint Touch / HTC Vogue with this same account. It died. I have TEP and the repair center did not have any in stock. I liked my Vogue and, quite honestly, I was very reluctant to take the Diamond in place of a new Vogue.

I guess, I go through all of this to add some context. This worked seemlessly with the Vogue and I am having a bit of a challenge with the Diamond. Of course, it could be something in ROM configuration that is unique between the Vogue and Diamond.

PS: and then, 30 minutes later, the tubes of the internets started to unclog ...
