Disco D-Pad

is there any .cab or even reg edits, that allows you to change the sequence of flashing lights on the d-pad for a text message, incoming call, email, charging.... etc.

it would be cool if an there was an app that let you choose what lit up, when, and for how long. (on the d-pad, of course - for the touch diamond, touch pro)

p.s. i did search, and i'm not looking for juggalo's notification enhancements app... even though its amazing in itself, its not what i'm going for( but thanks juggalo - you've produced some great stuff)... im also not looking for anything that will change the colors... just the patterns of the white LEDs on the d-pad.

thank you in advance!

im not sure, but i think nueled used to do it on the vogue, maybe an application like such exists for the diamond as well

Re: Disco D-Pad

nuelued? you mean no2chem? btw, the one for the vogue won't work for the Diamond as the hardware is different.

Re: Disco D-Pad

i would love some more suggestions...i think this is a very cool app.

i would love input on how it could be done and the problems that one would face developing it. if there isn't this app out there maybe one of the dev-gods here (*cough* no2chem). and of course the many other "famous" devs (you know who you are, i can't try to coax you all into helping me), can toss some info or input this way.

help a muggle out..?

Re: Disco D-Pad

does anybody know about the driver that controls the LEDs on the D-Pad?

Re: Disco D-Pad

Is this what your looking for? I remember doing something like this on an older Motorola and a Nexteli i730.

Re: Disco D-Pad

no thats different

meetdave 11-29-2008 08:34 PM

Re: Disco D-Pad

i know that its possible to make this, i just don't have the ability to do it myself.. so really, any input would help. the best way to get something like this started is to get a starting point... like

what drivers control the sequence for the LEDS.
does the sequence have to be hardcoded in?
etc

anything really...

the reason i want to see this app made because its:
A) aesthetically pleasing
B) is another step towards making the diamond/tp a totally customizable, its like being able to edit your manilla... sure its not necessary, but people still want it right?

just state something that you think might contribute,
nueled by no2chem is something worth noting.. it apparently works on the tp, but still just doesn't do what im asking.... yet.

Re: Disco D-Pad

the biggest reason i want it is so that i can assign it to custom events, such as the light being SOLID if your phone is about to die, flashing for a missed call, fading for charging, and flashing rapidly 3-4 times for a new txt or email...

this could be very very useful

Re: Disco D-Pad

I would love this! I wand the lights to stay on when my phone is on. NEVER SHUT OFF!

And at the same time, we could maybe find a way to have the screen stay off on SMS arrival

Re: Disco D-Pad

saus there is something for that.... PM me

meetdave 12-03-2008 05:48 AM

Re: Disco D-Pad

i'm surprised at the lack of interest people have about this... its not riveting or anything, but it seems worth promoting.

haha, i've seen other threads develop huge amounts of interest over far more ridiculous stuff.

personally, i would like to make better flashing sequences so its a bit more noticeable.
e.g. on received text message clockwise rotation of - (home), (<--), (hangup), (phone) and okay button doing its counter clockwise rotation... who really cares what the sequence is.. or on an incoming call make the lighting inverse lol. just for example of what im talking about.

assigning it for functions would be amazing as well... solid "okay" button on low batt would be unreal.

Re: Disco D-Pad

Yeah I would love for my phone to be able to do all of those things. Wish someone makes an app for this. Cant wait....

Re: Disco D-Pad

Just in case you didn't notice... when you're phone is on, if you touch the center DPad, it will light up for a second. I wish I could just have that on the whole time.

I asked for the same application in XDA...good to know that we share common interests :headbang:

meetdave 01-15-2009 10:24 PM

Re: Disco D-Pad

i wish more people could share an interest in it. it would be incredibly useful for me as i have a bit of a hearing problem. it would be an ascetically pleasing way of working around that AND it would benefit the rest of the community as well!

for me, its like the equivalent to being able to change your sms tone.

its not that you cant hear the default one, its just how much nicer is it when you get to change it to something you actually enjoy?

i installed nueLED on my diamond and tested out some led addresses. I found address 20 mode 1 was the charging animation. So I set the service signal light to that address, did a soft reset and bam! Now shes "breathing" I like to call it. Looks cool too thought I'd share

I would say it's hard to tell. Personally, I wouldn't run it because it wasn't designed for our phones.

Tried nueLED. Works fine. Looks as if it's charging. However, if the phone can be seen in peripheral vision, it becomes very annoying. I have to move the phone to where I can't see it. Kinda defeats the purpose. I removed nueLED to keep my sanity. Lol!

I know exactly what you mean... When my phone is charging I can't have it anywhere within my range of sight. The pulsing would make my head explode. If I could make it solid, that'd be sweet.

One of the (few) things I like about my wife's Katana eclipse is that you can set the LED patterns for different callers. Sort of like a ring tone.

Seems like an app for this is very possible.

One step at a time, my friend. But still, that's an awesome feature! How many LED's did the Katana have?

hey thats really cool with regards to using nuled to toy with the dpad LED drivers. the katana eclipse feature sounds interesting as well..

im curious if i would be able to use nuled to light up the home, talk, back, and end key as well as the enter button on an sms. because if you notice when you receive a call it flashes the talk and enter button rapidly... just a thought.

A good thought, too. We know for sure the incoming call LED can be controlled. I see know reason why the others couldn't be as well

Re: Disco D-Pad

I was able to get nueled working finally... guess i was missing .net 3.5

Anyhow, Yes, 22,1 is the pulsating light during charging, and I got the same result by setting it as the service indicator. It's annoying as anything though like someone mentioned, and I had to turn it off.

I also found out that 22,2 and 22,20 are both the solid light on. That would be cool if you could keep that on 100% when the phone screen is on, but it stays on when the phone is asleep, so no thanks. Wish nueled had more specific options, like, "when screen is on"

I donno. I tried looking for the round-robin flash pattern but I couldn't get it to do it no matter what codes I tried. I let it sit forever doing the scan and never saw it light up besides 22-2 and 22-20

Thanks for the addresses. BTW, I think n2c will add some of the features you mentioned if he continues to work on this project.

EDIT: I tried nueLED on the Touch Pro, got nothing at 22, 1.
