Increased Battery Performance On Sprint

Hey guys,

WOW. I have found a way to get an incredible amount of battery life from my Sprint Diamond. Last week I decided to give Winterface a shot and disabled TF3D. Now while it looks boring, I have found the battery life to be way better. I last charged the phone on friday afternoon at work about 5pm, and the thing did not warn me about a low battery until about 10pm Sunday night. That's with making fairly normal amount of calls, checking email regularly, taking a few photos and surfing lightly on the web. I will report back if things change but so far Im thinking wow I love Winterface:headbang:

Wow... disabling an intense graphics program on a computer will make it draw less power?

why you got to be like that?

he's just giving advise, some people might not know why the Diamond takes so much battery life when being used

Re: Increased Battery Performance On Sprint

good tip. But I just as soon keep tf3d. Its one of the reasons I got the phone and with active sync set to sync once every hour (work hours), I get descent battery life for a day which is fine. That's with a good amount of data usage as well. Put the phone on the charger at night and repeat process.

This forum wouldn't be the same without your crabby-pants comments.

Really, it gets fairly old, especially raggin' on a guy who was trying to help.

That's what happens when someone gets a "big head" and think they are the sh*t when it comes to rom developement...sadly I beg to differ....

Uh actually I have to agree with Tobey... I mean there are several threads already that say that TF3D disabled improves the battery life. And it was more funny than mean I thought.

the person has 9 posts. Probably new. Sifting through this forum can be a daunting task and a little frustrating.

He found something he thought could help the community. Guy didn't need to be made a joke of. Save that for the vets of the board who keep asking where something is.

I am a big fan of sarcasm but the comment did come across as, well, d*ckish. If that's how you want to be perceived, go for it.

Actualy smartass yes it does.

4 Nvidia gtx 280 in quad sli consume more power while running games. They even draw more power running photoshop then when the system is idle.

It's hard to tell on forums unless someone uses emoticons to help convey levity.

I figured that TF3D probably contributed to drain, but I didn't know there were really any alternatives, so it was a helpful post.

There are several really rude people on this board. After reading a lot of threads, I've come to expect the second post in each to usually be disrespectful.

Yeah... bashing can be really bad here sometimes... I know how it feels... not too long ago I got bashed in this post: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43531 but I have to say too that I got "thanked" at the end... still, I got really discouraged and now I really think twice when trying to help by creating a new post.

Re: Increased Battery Performance On Sprint

I've had TF3D off as well as the phone skin since day one (when it was first released). I thought it helped at first but it doesn't.

I do think the new PRL helped some.

But I keep TF3D off because it's all eye candy and zero function.

Re: Increased Battery Performance On Sprint

I didn't post earlier because I don't want to seem like I was adding insult to injury but..
I measured the current draw when Juicy stopped it from auto running in his rom.

It does pull more current but not enough for ME to worry over.
I supposed if you want the absolute maximum time in between charges its worth disabling though.

I don't remember how much more it pulled, perhaps I should refresh my memory.

yes, and there seems to be a trend with certain people.

Tobey - I think everyone is getting tired of your condescending attitude....it is not necessary nor welcome here.

Stick on topic guys :) Keep the peace! don't bring the MOD Squad in here, we don't wanna get the thread shutdown cause of this mishap...

Good find man!, i prefer the manila homescreen though :) I charge my phone ever night anyways, sort of a paranoia of running my day starting @ 50% battery... So having the touchflo3d enabled doesn't really matter to me.

I was always curious about winterface, never got around to trying it tho!

Nonetheless, cool!

you guys make me laugh and while I may be new to this board Im certainly not new to the community aspect, hell I ran www.psxnation.com for 8 years and dealt with various personalities.

anyways day 2 has proven the same, I tried using wisbar advance desktop too which did nothing for my battery life. Now if only the winterface community would grow so i can get more theme choices :)

any real questions about winterface?

hah if i was involved with winterface id already have some badass themes.

Winterface goes over your today screen like tf3d does but it's laid out like the Iphone's winterboard with icons with are easy to access and scroll around. http://x.msmobiles.com/portal/images...winterface.jpg
