EVDO Always On?

Is EVDO supposed to be on all of the time? I am currently running juicys rom. I have turned off data connections. All of my email accounts are set to manual.

I thought that evdo only came on when data was being transfered.

What about the weather and time updates? Have you shut those off too?

All of that done, Still evdo stuck on. I guess after some reading, I shouldnt really be worried about it being on all of the time, as long as it isnt cycling alot between 1x. Thanks for your help though.

the evdo is the service you are connected too, as far as I know it will show that as long as your range of a evdo tower. If you don't want it to be on the evdo you can change the phone to 1x only.

What you want to see is the color of the arrows on your signal bar. If they are gray then your phone is not transmitting or receiving data. If they are white it is.

+1 ^^^

Edit: Somehow I get the feeling that Kbussen has mistaken the EV icon (which simply indicates that one is in an EVDO coverage area) for the data connection arrows. Correct me if im wrong.

I don't think Time Sync uses the internet. Mine has always been on and my Data connection is not stuck on.

QuickGPS might also trigger the Network to come up.
