Diamond Switching to 1xRTT
I just got a Diamond Wednesday night and I've noticed it switching from EVDO to 1xRTT several times when I'm at home (1-3 bars) and for the first time today when I was at work (avg 4 bars). So far I'm liking it but it seems like this constant switching isn't good and is affecting the battery life. I've read some of the threads about switching the radio or the polling but haven't tried that yet. I'm trying to figure out if I got a lemon or not. I'm considering calling in and getting it re-programmed (partly to get the MSL) but haven't done it. I would appreciate anyone's opinion on whether I should go ahead and exchange it or try some of the other things first.

Re: Diamond Switching to 1xRTT
It will switch to 1x whenever you are receiving a phone call or making a phone call or receiving/sending SMS text messages. Just make sure this is not the behavior you are having.

Re: Diamond Switching to 1xRTT
That was what happened today at work (didn't know that, I'm coming from an old 8200 that was four years old) but at home it happened a couple of times while I was using the internet and I noticed it a couple of times when I was waking it up. My wife has a Touch Pro and I had them sitting right next to each other last night and saw my Diamond switch to 1xRTT when hers was sitting there on EVDO with two bars.

Re: Diamond Switching to 1xRTT
Quick update: the phone and battery seemed to start working better after a couple of days, although it still dies faster than I would like. I'll be keeping an eye out for an extended battery when they come out.
