Constant data use (not by me)
every time i turn the phone on, i see the dialogue arrows over reception bars indicating that there is some download/upload going on. constatly, i see this every time i turn the phone on. i turn of data in communications tab, but it seems to go back on. i mean, the battery seems to have gotten better for me over time. i find it is worst when i freshly flash a rom. after a bit, it holds up nicely. i can use the phone heavily all day and come home safely powered, or there are days when it jst self destructs. in any case, i was wondering if this constat data usage is either healthy, or necessary for the battery.
my emails are set on update every 60 minutes. other than that, not sure what could be using data, other than telus network itself. |
Re: Constant data use (not by me)
sorry for blast from the past, but i'm having the exact same issue, after searching this is the only thread that really sounded like my issue
my data arrows are lit up constantly, sprints site says i've used almost 190mb of data since the beginning of the month but i think most of that was in the past week (just got a new diamond replacement from sprint and loaded the previous version of juicy 8 on it) its not my exchange push mail because even when i turn that off the data arrows are still lit, obviously my battery is not lasting very long i don't have anthign else running is there a program that lets you monitor data usage and see whats making requests? maybe i can track down the culprit? |
Re: Constant data use (not by me)
I believe DotFred's Task Manager does that.

Dotfred's Task Manager 3.1 works really nicely. It shows you what's running in addition to much, much more. http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm |
Re: Constant data use (not by me)

I believe that ends the data connection after 60 seconds. That may not be helpful for users that have alot of emails via push or have data sessions often. I made my long press key "end data connection." Depending on the op's usage, one of the above may be helpful. |
