Backing up and pim backup
i jut saw juicy 2.6 is going to be coming out, so ia mprepping to flash. but i got lots of nice thingies on my diamond now and like it very much. i customized the program menus. installed java, flash lite 3.1 (btw is flash lite 3.1 the very same that some roms include but call flash 3.1), mdv player, tcpmp, tools, and other goodies. along with programs, i have emails configured, chopped up some mp3s into nice ringtones. i am starting to like the diamond more and more, but this flashing business is a little pain in the anus. i use pim back, rather regularly, but am not sure what are its limitations. after i flash 2.6 will i need to reinstall the aps, and just resync, and restore with pim, and put the ringtone files back in the folder, or can i somehow skip a few steps?

Re: Backing up and pim backup
Not familiar w PIM B/U, but if it works anything like SPB B/U, which I use, you can select what you want to restore. You should be able to select a full b/u or just certain items.

Re: Backing up and pim backup
It backs up what it says it backs up. Your custom settings, installations and all the other crap will have to be done again. This has been asked 1000 times. Sometimes, if you want the newest ROM, you'll actually have to do some work too.

Re: Backing up and pim backup
Pimbackup is really only for backing up appointments, tasks, contacts, sms and email messages, call logs and speed dials. It is good, free, but has limitations in that it only backs up what I have listed.
I use spb Backup as it will backup everything that you want it to. All the above stuff plus, files, installed applications, registry settings, etc. It does cost but for me it was well worth the investment. You can download fully functional trial (14 days I think) here. |
Re: Backing up and pim backup
spb is a 5 day trial. not to be a jerk rainfreak, i just used it to get rid of opera 2392 that i hated on my diamind. at least mine was 5 days. its also way better than pim. imo

Re: Backing up and pim backup
actually it's 5 backups, not 5 days freel trial :P
i just downloaded the trial and so far it looks pretty good. will probably end up buying after the 5 backups. |
