Unable to tether HTC Diamond using Internet Sharing
 

Just switched from the PPC6700 to the HTC Diamond. I want to be able to tether the new phone for phone as modem. I go to the Internet Sharing application in WM 6.1 and the "connect" button is greyed out and unable to be clicked on. Everything else works fine including Internet on the device works using the Sprint network.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Is there a way to get the connect button to work without applying a new rom to my new phone? Is there a file on the phone I can edit to enable Internet Sharing?

Apply tethering fix cab and if its still greyed out change the name of the #777 connection from Sprint PCS to Sprint.

For me I have to have active sync/WMDC connected first then the connect option is available for Tethering...

Bluetooth is even more complicated on my laptop.. I have to active sync open on my phone first, then menu/connect, then ICS on the phone, then I have to go my networks on my laptop and "connect" the bluetooth network.. then I'm good...

Anybody who is unable to teather... take a look at PDAnet. Unfortunatly it's a pay app, but theres a demo to try first. Also maybe WMWifi Router.

Had to hard reset and lost the tethering info. Thanks again for posting this up.

im running mighty rom 4x and had to hard reset yest due to a mms issue, the internet sharing was working flawlessly with the fix cab one push for wired or BT connection now after the fix and stilll same rom Connect is GREYED out still....any other ideas..?

it still stays greyed after the fix..i did all that prior to posting and other ideas why the function is gone now

This worked for me to renable/undim the Connect button in Internet Sharing:

Change registry value ForceCellConnection to "Sprint", not "Sprint PCS"

The value "Sprint PCS" worked for the HTC Titan, but for Diamond it needs to be "Sprint".
