Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem
I guess I'm a lucky one. I'm in a good coverage area and my batt will last for a good 12-14 hours with average use. I did however, install that batt tweak and it seemed to help somewhat. And I do after about 2 to 3 regular charges (from near dead), let it cycle down and drain ( to completely dead) then charge it overnight and that seems to ensure a FULL charge. Li-ion batts do not have a memory per-say, but they do need to be cycled to ensure all cells within the batt get a charge.

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem
Last Friday I went to the Sprint Store to exchange my phone because of the high battery consumption and they told me that it's a know problem and they are working on a software update to fix the problem. They told that they could exchange it for another model, but if I really like it I should wait for the update.

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem
On light usage on my phone (a few calls and texts), my phone has lasted now almost 2 full days without a charge. Cycling the phone does help with battery life, but don't drain the battery almost dead (it's not good for Lithium Ion batteries).

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem
wow you have much better life with your unit than I . My unit seems to have died very quick some times within 4 to 6 hours of light usage . Heats up well

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem
I am guessing Sprint and telus have same issue.
I would agree that a proper method needs to be used to see if battery drain is really a problem. I have disabled my GPS, use about 3 hours of data and am at 2 bars of battery left. I have called HTC support and Telus support, they claim they are not receiving any calls. telus offered $10/month off my plan for the inconvenience. Then, I found this closed thread on this site: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41096 According to someone at HTC, the Diamond has 2 flaws, one is the refresh for the radio on the Diamond is set to 100ms vs normal 300ms, second flaw is a plate that was installed on Diamond's which will be installed on Diamond Pro. This leads me to believe there really is a problem with the Diamond. The folks with GSM version have a smaller battery and have less issues. If there is a battery tweek that will change the radio refresh to 300ms, please post or set link in this thread. As for the plate that was not installed, I am guessing carrier want this kept quiet so they do not have to create a plan with HTC to retrofit thousands of CDMA diamonds shipped. More users need to complain and force carriers/HTC to agree these are issues. Golfman32 |
