tired of pressing power button
 

My finger hurts since I have to press the power button too many times to wake the diamond from sleep. you can argue that I can set the phone not to sleep but sleep is a must to save battery.

is there a better way to wake up the diamond? is it possible to configure the OK (center) button to do this? like the iphone, you just press the OK button. it is big and does not hurt as much?

I am serious. the power button is too small and so flat. it is like pressing on a pin. I have to press it so many time withins an hour of usage.

good idea but then it takes more time. trying to get my nail into the gap and pull it out, then pull it back in.

why can't the dimond be turned on like the iphone? pressing the iphone big and soft buton is much better than pressing the diamond small and flat button

your comparison makes no sense. apple vs orange.

the diamond power button is small and hidden. it is supposed to be used rarely like the small reset button on a PC.

start-->settings-->system-->key lock

you can choose the last option. but that will wake up your phone when you hit any button.

thanks. that is very close to what I need. How can I assign the OK button as the only button to wake up the phone?

Start - Settings - System Tab
Select Key Lock
highlight the last button - Do not lock buttons

This should work for you

Holy cow! Now it just sounds like you're complaining on anything you can find with that comment about pulling out the stylus. I mean the thing is magnetic, it's not like it requires a combination lock to take out and push back in.

However, maybe you should post at xda-developers to see if they know an app or can write an app to turn the center button to turn on the device.

Actually...this got me thinking.... how about a g-sensor program that would power it on, call it shake&wake...lol

That would be actually a good adition to the phone. I myself would like that... if you find the way, please PM me... if I find it, I will let you know... but I think the XDA forums would be a great place to ask... but I am always lazy on to registering to post...

I actually think this is a creally good idea the ok button is also indented in a little bit so it wont be getting pressed all the time turning on the screen but its quicker to use i would def install any app that had that and maybe a long along with it.

I never said anything about iPhone dude, but I do agree that there should be alternatives to switching on the device. In all cases, that's what differentiates the iPhone vs Diamond, you can develop into a better device

Yeah, while it isn't a huge problem, I will admit that the power button can be somewhat hard to get used to compared to the Mogul. It isn't necessarily because it is located in a different place, but it really is semi-difficult to press because you do have to use your fingernail (or at least I do). If I use my actual finger, when I press, the softness of my finger doesn't allow the device to turn on. So I see the point the OP is making.

I just got my diamond last night and I haven't once had to use my finger nail on the power, I just shift my pointer finger up and it presses it just fine. maybe some of you got a bum phone that you have to press extra hard or something.

I agree. I have had my Diamond since 9/16 and have not once had an issue with the power button. It is a little more difficult to depress than the power button on the Touch, IMO, but I think that is a good thing. Since I carry mine in my pocket i don't want my Diamond coming on while I am walking, as often was the case with my Touch.

But I have never needed to use my fingernail to power on my diamond.

yea so far, all I need to do is power down the screen and I have not dialed out once in pocket or in holser. it scares me how small it is in my pocket, I cant feel it like I did my mogul worried ill drop it.

Just wondering just how BIG are your fingers? I have large fingers...at least my wife calls them snauasges...but I don't think the power button is really a problem.

I too think it would be great to have an enter key option to wake up the phone. I'm still new to the diamond, but it definitely is harder to find and push the power button to wake it up than on the touch. You guys are kind of harsh on the OP, even though he could have had a better subject line. The stylus in/out seems to be easier, but unfortunately, the new magnetic stylus is also harder to find than the stylus on the touch. The old stylus had the raised piece to make it easier to find, the new one is definitely more hidden (like the power button) and a pain to pull out. I also hate that it pulls down, not up like the touch. Has anyone found magnetic stylus replacements that have the notch to help solve the usable on/off switch dilemna? ](*,)
